Wait for the X or go for a IX
Hey guys,
I'm in the market for an Evo IX, but with all the hype about the X, should I just wait? How much longer do you think the IX's will be around for?
Thanks

If you can wait to own a X, do what I'm doing. I bought the 06 IX MR because it is the last year that they are making this style (and the best looking one IMO) and I will wait til the last year of the X's to get one no matter how badly I want one now. The reasoning being that hopefully by the last year all the defects will have been fixed and the styling seems to always be better on newer versions. Except in the case of Subaru who likes to go backwards instead of forwards when it comes to design. First year of any new car is always sketchy at best. Who wants to buy a brand new car only to find that the newly designed engine needs to be rebuilt every 5000 miles. Mitsubishi quality is not the finest.
I had my heart set on the 10 but I've been thinking differently over the last few days. I would love to own one but everything about that car is new. I can see it being a complete mess 2-3 years into owning one.

Personaly the VIII/IX are solid platforms with proven results....over and over again...
I would wait at least a year or so after the X comes out so that all the bugs are ironed out and we know exactly what to expect from the engine, drive train and chasis...etc.
I would go with a IX....baby it and then if the X proves worthy...trade in the IX.

If you mod then get a used 9. You'll take it in the shorts on a new one. It would be ober a year old right from the start. Have to get it below invoice to avoid getting raped.
I want to see the X before I buy a IX or X. I think that there will be a lot of IX's left if I dont like the X. One reason I am leaning toward a IX is the fact that its the last of the 4g63. The new motor is unproven so far, but I like the looks and that it is bigger inside.
