IX vs X, which one should i buy?
I've been debating if i should get a new X when its released, or one of the leftover IX's at a good price. Is the diffrences that the X provides really THAT much more than a IX. Which is the better value? BOth cars i intend to purhcase brand new, although the IX is an 06 so in reality would be 2 years "old".
Nobody knows yet as the car has not been released. By theory the X should perform better than the IX. With that said, pricing has not been released for the X and won't be for some time. The X will mostly likely be a couple thousand more that the IX just based on the fact that it will offer new technology and amenities.

Remember this is a whole new engine, traction setup, among others.
I was looking at the prices a dealer had somewhere else in the forums...something like 28k for a GSR and 26K for an RS. Do you think they will mark up the new X's? I mean if you say 2k over MSRP that could be around 34k For a GSR and if they mark em up 5k its already pushing 40k. I could save about 12k if i get the old GSR, and even more if i go with the regular RS. BUT, then again , who wants the old model when the new one is really close right? Im not very sure what to do, get the old one or wait for the new ones. I was leaning towards a new one, but the automatic drive is sort of making think twice about a IX. I really love manual transmissions...

im going through the same debate as you. I am leaning toward the X, but the possible lower price of the IX makes me second guess. Also, the X will come in a 5 speed, mitsu has said in thier press releases. You might not get it right away, but wait a little more after its released and it will be there. So if the trans is the only thing you second guess about the X, then that solves that.
The Evo X will probably carry a dealer markup for the first couple of months, simply because it's a performance car and many people would want to get their hands on one.
With that being said, I would buy the IX now. We're not even sure when the X will be actually released, and how it would respond to mods. I think Evos "age well," if there's such a thing. I know I wouldn't mind driving a Evo VI, which is the best looking Evo in my mind. If you buy the IX now, you can spend the next year driving instead of waiting and drooling over a catalogue.
But hey, if you want to look flashy and drive the latest model, then maybe you should wait for the X. That has never been my thing though.

there goes another n00b who deesn't know anything about engines, why do the top fuel cars crank about 8,000 hp on a aluminum block w/50 psi of boost on nitro-methane!!
Actually the engine is going to feature an aluminum block and aluminum head, not the whole car. Just like the LS-1 that might be under the hood of the T/a you have. So I guess someone should tell all the people with FI'd LS1's to stop before they "blow up into pieces everywhere" huh?

It would make it lighter.
