do you guys think we'll get screwed with resale value on buy an IX since the X is around the corner and IX is still an '06? I'm in the market for an upgrade and not sure if I can swallow that if I'm going to be losing big on resale value

Who cares about resale value. All cars will deprceciate, unless you have some rare collector car.

Our cars will become just like DSMs, same depreciation valve as the rest of the cars out there. It's too soon to know if the Evo X is any good so there is not point in asking which car to wait for, who knows, mitsubishi actually might have made a even better block than the 4g63.

You would be suprised how much a good clean '99 GSX can bring. Its better then the average '99 import.

But still, to Wiznaz - if you so worried about resale value, you shouldn't be looking at a new car at all.

I'm not worried about resale value in general, I'm worried about Mitsubishi retail value. And there is a difference

I would say go for the IX. First gen cars always have issues that need to be ironed out when they first roll over to the States. It happened w/ my and my buddies WRX and its happened to several other friends as well.

Plus I like the look of the interior of IX better

The IX's will have good resale value, there are alot of Evo purists that like the looks of the current Evo and all it's predicessors that came from the same bloodline - myself included. The Evo X better be all that and more and not just a MX6 / Audi looking 4th gen Eclipse look alike idea to bail out Mitsubishi Motors North America. The bar is high and from what I've seen and read so far I'm not that impressed. The IX's will be the last of a great series of Evo's - I dont see where you can go wrong.

you also have to take into account the young kids that purchase the car solely on performace potential and don't know the bloodline or could care less

if you are not impatient, be one of the first and wait for the X.

Tough call....can't have your cake and eat it too....as they say. I went with the IX before they sold out because I didn't know that the X was eventually going to have a manual. For the longest time they only said it was going to have ****RONIC. If you're into modding and aren't patient then go with the IX and if you want some creature comforts or a little more refined interior then go with the X....although keep in mind thats not why most EVO owners bought their cars.
