some cf heat shields use screws but i know people who just use double sided tape.

i have heard only good reviews about the cf heat shield

im guessing the SS ones work at least as good as the CF ones. SS is more heat resistant and carbon build up will be easier to clean. i dont see any downfall to the SS ones so far...except it doesnt offer much Bling Factor

Any idea if just the double sided tape holds up or if it ends up just falling off? Would be kinda leary of drilling holes in the bumper.

it will hold. but don't put it near the exhaust. try to put the tape on the outer edge of the shield. i am gonna drill holes on the bottom. so u can't see it.

Get a JDM IX bumper. Looks better and exhaust tip should protrude just right amount. At least it works with my Magnaflow Ti and JDM VIII bumper. Avoid getting heatshield for bumper as they are way ugly looking. An added benefit of the JDM bumper is that it doesn't have those ugly little side reflectors.

downside is the loss of the rear crash beam. i dont want to deal with any insurance problems if i get rear ended since the evo is my daily driver.

i'm going to wait on jdm rear until i have a beater.

There is a vast price difference between getting a JDM IX bumper and an exhaust heat shield. Some people prefer function over form.

^ that is true

i still love how some people think the JDM rear bumper's "diffusers" are functional. haha

anyways, does anyone have pictures of their SS heat shield?

did anyone use clips and/or double sided tape to hold it?
i dont really want to drill holes into the bumper =X

its all preference. i think the CF ones only look good on dark cars or cars that have a lot of cf

i think it looks retarded on silver. cf side spats on silver look fine though

so, i guess nobody is using a SS heat shield...

I'm looking at purchasing the SS one. I've noticed a lot more soot since installing the BR TBE. I can't see spending that amount of money for a carbon fiber one when it's only going to get f'ed up. I'd rather spend less money on a SS one. Don't get me wrong now, I like carbon fiber. My last car (2002 Galant GTZ) had a lot of carbon fiber on it. I miss that car sometimes.

I have a carbon fiber heat shield and yes it is Gunked up bad but IMHO a Stainless tell one would get too hot and melt your bumper....get the carbon fiber one and when it gets ugly sand the gunk off and RE-Coat it...
