One friend CLAIMS, "A guy in town had an STI, bought an EVO 8, but said he hates the lag his EVO has, and that the STI pulled much harder. " Mainly just "he said she said" stuff... but I figured I would ask the guys who actually own the cars themselves...

I have an Evo IX and with the following mods a tBE, an intake, and a ebc and jestr tune, i put down 350whp on a Mustang Dyno, i havent seen any Sti with the same mods make those numbers. the sti is a nice car but if i was you i would go with the Evo, the RS's are fuc___ beast, theres a member here with aa RS that went 11.9 just wit a flash and no ehaust. i know cause i was there when he did it.

You are not gonna be disappointed if you by this car. Your friends are living in a different world if they think the Evo is way slower than the STI. I own an VIII myself, but from what I have read about the IX's they make real good power gains with the right minor mods.

yep, put some money in for a race. I bet you'll make enough to pay for your May-June car loan.

BTW most STI think the factory HP rating of 300 was more than the EVO's 287HP but guess what the dyno HP dont lie. Mitsubishi rate the Evo IX at 287 but most dyno number shows 260HP and while the 300HP STi make around 240ish at the dyno.

My bad bro, but when I read what your friends said, I couldn't believe it. Just the statement that STi's are faster than Evo's is mind boggling.

I had the same dilemma when I bought my evo, and I was coming from an S4 that I put a lot of money into. I decided on the Evo, because what I was looking for was speed, and speed that wasn't going to cost me as much as the S4. I spent half as much on mods, and easily put down more horse power then my S4, and many STi's that spent the same amount.

IX all the way.....who ever said an sti pulls harder......i was making 310whp, and i rode in this one guys STI that made close to 370whp.....most of u might not believe me but it just didnt pull as hard, plus i've heard from many that 400whp in an sti is very hard to do without any engine work.......and with the IX 1k-2k range will get over 300whp.......have fun man, your gonna love the RS

evos are 286 stock and the evo has about 240 to the wheels and 245ish for the sti

If you are swayed because idiots are saying your future car is slow, don't get the car. You're buying for the wrong reasons.
