Team, I dont believe that wanting a $30,000 car to be quick, is a wrong reason to purchase it. lol, Dont get me wrong I love Mitsubishi's, I love more about the Lancer than its power (handling, looks, durability, potential, etc), but I am interested in my $30,000+ car being descently quick off of the floor, as well. You can't tell me that the speed of the lancer wasn't a factory in your purchase, as well.

I have owned both Sti and evo 9 mr.
Only performance advantage I could even imagine Sti has on Evo is slightly better spool up on lower rpm.
Obviously with bigger displacement and a smaller turbo charger, that is to be expected.
However, the drawback for quicker spool up is STi runs out of steam fairly quickly.
Other than that evo trumps STi in every performance category; handling, braking, top end power, etc.
Here's my favorite thing about evos.
They love to be modified.
With a few well chosen mods, they make already a great car into an amazing car.
Don't let few uneducated friends put any doubts about your choice.
You made the right choice .
