Seriously, like our cars are going to break down right at the 30,000 mile mark? Or do you have to sell it after you hit 30,000 miles and THEN it will magically break down?

Go with Evo #1. It's the best choice, and the best price.

You won't regret it.

Buy a stock one. If modded then hopefully just bolt on. Hard to find a stock evo out there. Mostly just turned back to stock.

Just PM me your AIM screenname if you want and I can talk to you in details on this stuff. I've owned 3 different Evo's, modified them all, and even traded on in to the dealership. I've also owned a slew of DSM's over the years and can tell you what to look for and what to look out for.

My EVO IX MR was modded and put back to stock. Might I add, put to stock poorly. The guy used aftermarket hose clamps and missed some bolts getting the stock airbox mounted back up.

You have to find that diamond in the rough where the previous owner actually took care of it. From what I can tell, mine was one that appears to have been taken care of, so I'm very happy.

Not everyone can be as perfect as you man. Maybe you can keep your car clean and nothing wrong with it. But there is a lot of people out there that does not give a crap. Face the facts. Think far , do what you wanna do, my conversation ends here. Take you time dont rush.

Get expert input

I agree, but there is much more to it. Do your self a favor and if you are concerned with the mechanical condition of the vehicle, bring the car to an independent professional and have him make the evaluation on the condition of the car (Your mechanic, a friend, or an Evo specialist in your area. No one here. As some have mentioned, you cant assume what the condition of a car is by the mods (previous owner could have had a big turbo kit there for all you know and returned the car to stock or close before trading it in). Another thing to take into consideration are the differences about the different year Evos you are considering. The difference between an 03 and an 05 is significant. ACD, The Hotside. Search in the forums and you will find the + and – and tendencies of each model. I believe differentials in 03s were a problem for some people. Just take your time and please get all the information you can. Just because an Evo had 30k does not make it bad, they are very strong cars, and it all depends on how well it was maintained. I have seen some examples of Evos with less than 10K falling apart, and others with 50k in top shape, like I said, get an expert’s advice. And please, take into consideration mechanical changes over the two models, depending on you will use the car, you may regret not having ACD and other drivetrain improvements between 03 and 05. Just my 2cents.

I like how people on here think that I'm only posting to make myself look good and that what I say doesn't hold any value.

I've offered to talk off of these forums with the guy, and I'm sure I will. In fact, I'm sure he's going to end up appreciating the advice that I give him about what to look for and it'll end up saving him a lot of money - if the car is truely sound.

Of course you can only say so many things or base an opinion on here to a certain degree without knowing the ins-and-outs of the car in question.

I'll wait for Marcus to post up later and tell the rest of the story as it unfolds.

Sounds like the rally red is your best choice as long as the xterior is not beat up.
