STi Or Evo
Hey, i just turned 17 and i have my full liscence here in new york. After working every day after school till 9 since i was 15 (lol) i have enough money for either the EVO or the STi and some extra to add some mods. I was wondering which car you guys would perfer if you had a 2nd chance. Would you stick with your Evo or take a shot with the STi? And also i was wondering if either of the models came with Automatic transmission. It'd be my daily driver too and i dont want to fuse around with the stick shift all the time. Thanks!

anyways in ur situation instead of buying a $60000 dollar car(AUD) why not scroll down a bit and get a Ralliart, built that up(has great selection, see RRM or RPW, inc. turbo kits), get some practice driving and also it DOES come in auto.
just my $0.02
I have both.
like the STI more.
As people say, the STI is a street car that can be driven on the track, the EVO is a track car that can be driven on the street.
For daily, i would go with the STI (more comfortable ride, not as much engine noise, nicer interior etc)
If you're looking to make a rocket ship for cheap, go with the EVO.
but honestly, like most people say, you will probably crash it.
I'm only 20, but if i had either of these cars when i turned 17, id be dead by now.
better than a bike, i suppose.

way too young for an evo buddy - especially as your first car?!?! thats insane. but hey... it would be nice if you could prove us wrong, but odds are pretty good that you'll just wreck it.
a wrx is a great idea, not so expensive - and still very tunable.

NOOOOOO. No more highperformance sports cars for teenagers. The evo will make u feel like ur the best driver ever. Allwhell drive is an amazing thing when it comes to grip, the 16g spools so fast that it will blow your head off.
Im speaking from experience. when I was 17-18, self control behind the wheel of an evo was almost impossible with all the civics and integras revving at you evrywhere you go.
Dont do it man. Get a beginner car, take your money and by some parts and some tools.
Install them yourself and learn something about cars.
Thats what im doing right now on my 93 rx7 TT. And im loving it.

pick up a Civic Si or RSX type S, will give you a taste for performance cars and for modications, while not killing yourself. And automatic? puh-lease! Get one of those hondas to beat the clutch around to learn on, and you'll never look back.
Well now that youve put up with all the harassment and are still here, I'll give you my advice.
Being a younger driver, both an Evo or Sti are going to cost you a fortune to insure. Also, the upkeep and mod costs on both of those cars are relatively high. You say that you've been working your butt off for the last couple years to save for your own car and thats admirable, but going out and spending it all on a car that it doesnt really seem like you can afford could be a bad idea.
Also, if you are using the word "fuss" and manul transmission in the same sentence, you obviously have not driven long enough to appriciate the response and feedback a manual car gives.
You may be into cars but an enthusiast does not drive an auto. Get some experience behind the wheel in a lower hp front or rear wheel drive car. Learn how it reacts, turns, accels, decels and SHIFTS! Look into cars like a civic si, sertra se-r, 240sx, eclipse gst, etc etc. Something that wont cost an arm and a leg to insure and modify.
Then after youve modded it, broke it, fixed it, put some blood sweat and tears into it, and gotten a feel for it, move to an awd car cause it is a totally different animal. I like the wrx idea, and you could start there if youd like, but if youre first car is AWD, youll never go back. An Evo or Sti is not a good first car for anyone. It is just too much car. Learning to master a 300hp car before learning how a 120hp car can lose control could be deadly.
Good luck either way!
oh and btw, an Evo pwns an Sti
