buying a used evo

Hi all first post here. Got some question i need to throw out to you guys. I searched and couldent find much but did find a little bit of help. I stall have a few questions i need answers for.

Thinking about getting a used 2003 evo VIII

First an formost, what is a good price for one in good condition ? There is a dealer here by me that has one for 21,000 and change, with 62,000 miles on the clock ? Good deal ?

Also what should i watch ot for in getting a used evo. I have read on here about the tornado sound comming from the case. i know to watch and listen for that on the frist test drive. Anything else i should know about ?

Also the dealer said there is a check engine light on in this car. He said its from an after market air intake. Do these throw codes with after market intake ? Is it common ? He said it had been put on a computer but show no problems. Any ideas ?

Do these cars have a blow off valve from the factory that you can hear ? So when i drive if i hear a BOV then i might know if it after market since it would be loud.... etc.

Any help would be nice guys, im going to drive this car soon, and want to be well prepared to make a good investment. Any "ammo" i can have will be awesome thanx !

the air intake wont throw a cel code, unless of course the maf is unplugged (which really doesnt make sense)... does it have an aftermarket exhaust?

kbb.com can tell you what it should cost.
I personally wouldn't buy a used evo though....i'm almost certain that someone has abused the car. And i wouldnt trust buying a car with a cel light that the dealer doesnt even care about fixing themselves. Sounds fishy to me.

i know that on some cars A cold air intake might throw a check engine light, because of air/fuel ratios have changed, just didnt kow if this was the same type of situation on this car....

buy an 04 youll thank me later.

Also a intake shouldn't throw a code, i said shouldn't not won't.

Don't buy a EVO from a dealer unless its completly stock or you have a friend that has an evo and knows cars very well because there are a lot of people that mod the hell out of the car, remove all the mods and trade it in. Normally they don't put it back to stock correctly cause they don't care anymore. Believe i am one of them that has done it in the past. When I feel i have a solid car when i go to sell i sell it private party.

Look at the classifed on here there are some nice cars, slightly modded to high modded.

Hell i have BBY 04 highly modified all sell you for 24,000 ish price would change with what you want on the car. It only has 19k on the clock and will tell everything, it even still has the stock clutch that how much i beat the car. Cental ohio

Sorry for the minor hack, but i did give some good info first.

Not a good deal at all. 62K on 2003 should be around 19K.

As far as cel light, just like everyone said - shouldn't be there + the dealer sounds like an *** too
