Just dont get an evo if you plan on modding it and still want the warranty. That **** will never happen. They will void your warranty with a quickness once you start modding.

I own both cars, the 05 sti and an 06 evo IX. The only problem with the sti so far has been a hose blew off, that's it. As for the evo? Not one problem. One of the best cars I've ever owned so far. Definitely the most fun. I personally feel that the only problem with the evo is people abuse the car either in their driving ability or modding it beyond normal limits. It's a great car.

as an owner of a 03 and 05 evo....DONT get an 03...people debate on the 03s a lot, but seeing there has to even be so much debate about them, DONT buy an 03!! I ran thru 2 TCs, (owning my evo for 30k miles and 11 months, i launched the car 2 or 3x with a clean quick slip)..all street driven mostly hwy, rarely driven hard, syncro issues, mitsu service issues (F*** fresno mitsu, even their GM was an a$$ after i came back MONTHS later down the line, he still held his "grudge" against me infront of my family) I heard the mitsu dealer near my home is pretty good so i'll just have to see after i go in about my stock radio (which will prob be replaced b4 i go in about it).

As for my 05, i have 22k on the clock. When i sold my 03 evo, it had 60k on the clock. My 05 is pretty solid. I miss my sunroof tho the driveline is still fairly loud. I've driven many race cars in my lifetime so the evo's "rocky suspension" doesnt bother me much, nor does the driveline. i LOVE hearing the car work (driveline, turbo spool, cams, injectors ticking, loud whining fuel pump, exh, bypass valves, etc)

30000 miles with no major problems. Customer service is hit or miss. The dealer closest to me I really don't care for so I drive about 45min or so to the dealer in pensacola where I usually get much better service.

strangely my factory installed oil temp gauge works whenever it wants to, sometimes on hot days it always reads 50 deg celsius and sometimes it reads the actual temp which is 70 or 75, thats about the only problem i had with my evo after 42k miles of daily driving
