16,000 miles on my '06 MR with no problems other than the sunglass compartment opening up on it's own during hot days. Had it replaced under warrany but that did not fix the problem. Instead of wasting my time going back to the dealership I just put a velcro on it.

I got my VIII used and I'm thinking of not even testing out the Mitsu dealership here with all this talk about the service.
The car has about 22k on it and no problems what so ever and the clutch is still holding on strong.

I drive like a grandma daily but go to the dragstrip acouple times a year and both cars have alot of buschur parts on them.

Im definately a firm believe if you take care of a car it will run for along time without problems.

We had a Ford Aerostar 180,000 miles before it blew a headgasket and we just gave it to the junkyard cause the body was rusted to pieces. The people at the dealerships told use most of them didnt make it to 100,000

I'm glad that there are a lot of mature evo drivers and not just spoiled rich teens rolling around in them. I'm 19 but not that rich to get one right now. So it'll be a while for me.

Oh, no. There are quite a few spoiled little kids out there with Evo's. You'll see them. They're the high-and-mighty ones. It's almost as bad as it used to be when every visor-wearing 16 year old had a Honda Civic with clear lights and an unpainted body kit.

The worst part is you've got all these kids who don't have a clue what they're doing, but yet they go to the shops that have been around for YEARS in the 4G63 game and won't listen to them. Then, the kids get on here and bash all of the shops who basically pioneered modifying Mitsubishi AWD 4G63 powered cars in the first place. After seeing this for a few years, it really is enough to make you sick.

The Evo should come with a disclaimer:

"If you wear denim shorts and white sneakers with ankle socks then the Evo is not for you."

03 VIII 51k miles besides a clutch and changing brakepads and replacing the wing i haven't had a problem with mines at all. i've driven it across the country twice, multiple trips to dallas, i have a 100 mile one way trip to work usually drive it on fridays and saturdays and 0 problems....

don't belive all that 03's are crap talk. i'll get in my Evo right now and drive it anywhere with peace of mind.

06 evo IX now @ 30k miles. I had 2nd and 3rd gear synchros replaced within the first few hundred miles (grinded more then usual when going into those gears). After dealership warrantied it and replaced the synchros the car has been flawless for the last 29k miles

I haven't had my EVO for more than 2 weeks, but I know that the 4G63 engine has proven itself with the pass of time. This engine has been around for a long time, and many people are running 400whp applications on an engine that has 100k miles on it.

People who say the car is sh1tty are just speaking from reaction to the fact that you're not getting a Subaru. The EVO is a wonderful car with great power. If you're disgusted with the Subaru styling (as I am), go with the EVO, you won't be disappointed.

Just remember, the EVO X will no longer have the 4G63 engine, so make your move quickly if you want one. EVO IX's new aren't going to be around forever. I got mine with 4,500 miles on it and it's solid as a rock.

37,000 miles on an '03 - I had on caliper that was pealing but then I am the one who dinged it. The only other things the car has needed is fluids and a battery.

Here is the deal. You are going to want to modify the hell out of either car and your warranty will be voided at some time or another. Its just the way it is...

As far as the the quality goes, you are not going to really have any issues. Like others have stated, there may be some issues with the transmission considering how easy it is to make ridicilous power out of the stock internals and something has to give.
