05 turbo vs 06 turbo???

05 turbo vs 06 turbo???

nob question..... I'm thinking of swaping my stock 05 turbo with a stock 06. I'm also wondering how much more power will I get? For the money is it even worth doing??

yes it's worth it. 06 turbo can be had for about $500/shipped used. You will need to buy an install kit or go to mitusbishi and buy all the seperate parts individually. I promise if you search, you will find many pictures of the turbo's side by side and dyno graphs.

wait... are u serious? 06 turbo is different than an 05? this cant' be true?! i thought it's the mivec that makes the 9 special?

whats the different? isn't all 03-06 a 16g. i know the 05-06 has the 10.5 hotside

the compressor housing is bigger on the 06 aswell

03-04 smaller compressor housed 16g with the 9.8 hotside
05 same as the 03-04 but with a 10.5 hotside
06 larger compressor housed 16g with 10.5 hotside

heres another noob question... wth is a 16g with a 10.5 hotside? is that the diameter of the turbo outlet?

I think people get confused on exactly what the hotside is. I talked to alot of guys and they all had different ideas. The hotside is the turbine housing, not the compressor housing. The outlet has nothing to do with the hotside. Or am I unclear on what exactly you mean by "outlet"?

same turbo outlet (on the compresser side , only the exhaust side is different, and they all bolt up the same on the 02 housing side (hotside)

I think the 9s have a different outlet though, not sure but thats why they have the instal kit plus the right fitment lines.

im confused on the numbers, what do they mean? 10.5.. and 16g... is the 10.5 the diameter of something? and 16g the name of something?

I'm trying to find a link to a site that gives all the information on what those numbers mean, but I can't find it for the life of me. Instead of writing a response the length of a novel, I will try and find it and post it later.

Not to mention I believe the 06 has a lighter magnesium turbine wheel for quicker spool.
