Actually that's exactly what it means. We're not talking about legitimate racing, we're talking about illegal street racing.

i just love how everyone thinks being young means your immature. i am 19 and got mine when i was 17, still paying it off obviously, i still did good in school, attending college and working. Age doesn't mean you are mature or not, i learned from mistakes earlier in life and actually treat my evolution as a kid. Maybe i am just an acceptation too all of your guys rules, but you can't just say its wrong for a younger kid to have an evo. I agree a lot of kids are immature but not all. So you can't just place stereotypes on all of us. Just my view on this whole thing.

Doing well in school is meaningless, that just means either A. you're bright or B. school is easy, as most people think it is. Moreover, intellect and maturity are unrelated. Exceptions do not mean the rule has to change, they are outliers. It's not a stereotype, it's science. Argue with biology if you don't like it.

No offense, I love cars, I love evos, but I knew school had to come first, and look at me. I'll be a college junior next year and will have my evo.
Im not sacrificing my education, if i have more than 1 C on my report card car is gone till the grades are brought up.

Im a sophmore. =]
I have a 06 WW IX..
haha..

I actually did pay for this myself. Its salvage.. I bought it for $XX,XXX ..and its slowly being repaired Dads a salvage car dealer, and his friend had it.. so I bought it.

Although, whenever he gets a new bmw or benz, I take out the DVD units and sell them for like 3-400 on ebay..Hence How I made the money in the past 2 years.. so in a sense.. its his stuff... but he lets me have it.. and ii make money off it.. i try to sell atleast one a week.. In the summer, before I went on vacation, I sold about 26..and had like 11 from it O_o But I spent 7 on a Aprilia RSV..

Now im near broke.. with only like 800 bucks left.. of which I have to buy 2 rims, a front bumper, air intake, left rear taillight, and a few little things for.. plus buy lunch in school for a month..

and I ran out of CD changers..
But we should have some BMW's in next week so Ill get more $$ xD

Oh, and last thing I want to do is race my damn car. Im in in EVERYDAy for atleast 3 hours just detailing it in and out and messing around with something on it...for a month now..
On the inside, it looks like ti just came off the showroom

Dont misjudge some "teens" though. Its the ones with the civic that you have to worry about. I see so many rolled civics nowadays its not even funny.... they make rates go up.
If you have an evo, Id think that youd realize its an evo.. not a hunk of **** like a old civic.. and you dont want to wreck it because there go the tens of thousands of dollars you put in.

i am just saying, as well as working full time to afford everything, i still do well in school, and i treat my evo as if its a kid. i am 100% respectful of it. not every young owner of a nice car treats it badly and beats the hell out of it, and drives like a maniac. alot of older guys who own cars like the evo are just as bad or worse than kids. its not all age, its just who you are. i chose to respect it b/c i pay all my bills and for all of my mods.

Maturity is not necessarily dependent on age, given there is no tangible way to analyze this trait. Who is there to set the fine age limit when someone is supposedly mature enough to drive a high powered car? In our society, there is none, besides the simple fact that you need to be old enough to have a license. Experience as a driver however, is directly correlated to amount of time spent driving. The more experienced you are, the more likely you are to avoid accidents that inexperienced drivers are unable to. But, people make mistakes THROUGHOUT their whole lives regardless if they're 5 years old or 100 years old. Yes, I'm 20 and drive an evo, but it's not my first car. I did all my stupid testosterone filled stunts on lesser powered cars. Yet, I would like to think at this point in life, I'm mature enough to handle the evo. I don't drive maniacally or risk my/other peoples' lives even when goaded. Does it make me an outlier? No. The argument is that a majority of young drivers are immature (but then again 51% can be considered a majority) so I firmly believe that there is a large group of young, yet mature drivers. If maturity was the basis for driving an evo, then women (who have the stereotype of always being more mature than men) should be the ones driving all the evos and men no matter how old (since they're always considered less mature) should give up their ego filled rampages through the street.

I'm 17 and have a Evo, I got it when I was 16. I don't drive it like a idiot. I drive it like I would drive a mini van. I know what to do and what not to do on the streets. I treat it with respect and don't beat the crap out of it. I'm really careful with the car and just treat it right. There are some people that says kids are not responsible and blah blah but there are kids that are mature and responsible to have a car and treat it properly.

Wish my parents are rich and pay bills like others. I had to join army to pay for my evo. Saved money from basic and AIT to get my evo(downpay). Still paying for it and will be for next 2 years. I'm jealous of rich parents.
Oh i did mod my evo but i dont plan to race(in the street).
1 speeding ticket = down fall to my career.

Maturity is directly correlated with age and there are ways to measure it based upon how decisions are made, what decisions are made, etc. A young brain is fundamentally different from an old brain, they look and act differently. Experience is undeniably important but age is an aspect that cannot be ignored. There are plenty of skilled young drivers but they still make stupid, youthful mistakes. Being on a car forum already reduces the group being polled to those who have enough of an interest to actively search for a place to not only read about their car, but to post about it as well. Most people do not do this. I strongly think that young people should not be allowed an Evo or similarly capable car as their first vehicle.

Man, I know what it's like to be looked down on for having an evo while being so young. I'm 17 (18 in two months) and I just bought a PB Evo X in cash. Most people scoff at me and think it was just handed to me, but when I tell them I bought it myself, that usually shuts them up. I have a very lucrative online business that has produced money that I earned by myself with no one else's help. So in my eyes, I deserve it, unlike some people who just have **** handed to them. My Evo is a direct product of my hard work and I'm proud to own one.
