Evo8 Question/ Small Dealership.

Hello Evo Members,

I really don't post much, well I don't think I have posted at all. Well a lot of members hear are friendly and do give good advise so I thought I could
ask you guys a question. So there's this 2005 Evo VIII for sale they want $19,995 it has 28,000Miles.
It has a blow off valve, and some other modification. The dealer selling it is a small dealership. So I was wondering if you guys think this is a good price? or
should I just try and buy from a actual Mitsubishi Dealership knowing that I can trust them not selling me a lemon car. Thanks in advance guys.

Oscar

Make sure it has a factory warranty remaining. Some cars have had their warranties voided due to driving events.

Check carfax too.

Thanks guys for the post's. I test drove the vehicle a few weeks ago and it drives good. Carfax is below, please let me know what you think, still under warranty. Are auctions any good.

Are you buying this car? Then make sure you are buying it from a licensed dealership. Otherwise, you could be a victim of curbstoning, which is illegal. A curbstoner poses as a private seller to sell vehicles for a large profit. Be sure to buy this vehicle from a licensed dealer.

That's a good deal, but I would definitely have it inspected before you sign anything. That price is a little too good to be true.

Check the carfax, but if no accidents are listed, DON'T TAKE IT'S WORD FOR IT. Check the car top to bottom for frame damage. If you don't know how, bring along someone that does. Also, find out if they will allow you do do a compression check on the engine before you sign (if its much below 180 psi on any of the 4 cylinders, don't buy it). Make sure while you are test driving the vehicle that you have the windows down and listen for any abnormal engine or drivetrain noises. If you don't know what to look for, please bring an experience mechanic. Buying a used Evo is a very risk proposition, and you should come prepared!

Thanks Sonic, I will definitely do that. How much do you thing it will cost to do a compression check? and what is a compression check. How much would it possibly cost to have a certified mechanic to come with me.
