also check ebay. some dealerships list their evo online. I also had problem buying car. Its long story.

oh ya I was looking at STI while searching for car. I was shopping on late december. They told me they would give me STI for 33k (msrp was 34.5k) also it had 3000miles and its used! but they kept saying its still new. I told them whatever trying to rip me off and drove off. I think friend got his STI for around 30k.
I got my evo for 28.5k. Thats what i think but that Don herring was trying to rip me off too. Without checking credit they told me interest is 9.9% 650 month( i told them my credit is 740 checked day before).
but later on I got it down to 535 6.0% 3k down( i still think i paid too much). Also rude rude manager.
I got email from don herring after posting it about in this forum. It was nice for actual owner to send email to me.

Like everyone else said, give South Coast/Huntington Beach Mitsu a call. Get their number from the vendor forums. I was there a couple days ago and they had the whole back lot full of Evo's...probably at least 25 just sitting there. TB MR SE's, AS SE's, and they even had an RR IX sitting there. Call up and ask what they have right now.

There's a ton of shady dealerships. Just keep shopping around. You'll find what you are looking for and without the BS.

Had my car in for service and had my spare key in the cup holder. When I pickd it up I was given the key and left. I didn't even think about looking for my spare untill the next day. I live 3 hours away and I caleld them asking where it was the service manager said they had it and it was on his desk. Told me he would drop it in the mail the next day and I should have it in a few days. I wanted a week and nothing came. Called again got the same story that it was still on his desk and he had forgot it. Told me he would drop it off at the ups store on his way home. Wated 4 days still nothing called again and talked to the same guy. He said "what key? we don't have your key sorry". He played stupid and had to get off the phone with me. I called back spoke to used car manager and he said he would get with the other guy and see what was up. Never heard back form him. Called again and spoke to used car manager he said they didn't have the key.

I said **** it and gave up.

I have names at home cause I have it all wrote down however im at work so i don't have them infront of me.

I ended up buying that Silver "Demo Car" IX SSL from Moore Mitsubishi. Yeah, the 4,800 miles is worrisome but the Mitsubishi warranty is fairly assuring. Plus, I got it for $29,400 out the door - the windows were already tinted and he threw in a bunch of free accessories including all-weather floor and trunk mats. Did I make a poor decision?... I've had it for a few weeks now and it runs great and I love it. The leather seats, sound and sunroof package rocks.

Also, the Kirkwood Mitsubishi does have a Black IX SSL. It has 500 miles on it and they were willing to sell it to me at invoice ($32k-ish). I was debating on that one too but the Silver got me. I say, get that one just because the warranty is really good.

Good thing you went to Moore instead of Kirkwood. I bought mine from Kirkwood and Ben was one of the guys that helped me out, I couldn't ask for a nicer guy. However, I never had a problem with Kirkwood until last week. The clearcoat on the front calipers was starting to come off so I called Kirkwood and asked them about it and they flat out said no it was not covered under warranty. Keep in mind my car is not modded in anyway and it has never been raced. I then proceeded to call Moore and the guy there said to bring it in so he could look at it. He looked at it and took down my information and the very next day he called to let me know that he had ordered new front calipers for me. Matt I believe is the guys name at Moore did a awesome job in getting me taken care of. In fact as I am typing this they are installing the calipers for me.

BTW, that black EVO at Kirkwood had scratches all over it and the passenger rear wheel had a lot of curb rash on it. I looked at it the last time I was there getting my oil changed.

Where in STL are u located? There was talk of a little meet n greet this coming Saturday at the Hooters in South County on Lindbergh

Wow, i can't believe dealers are that shady. . . Greedy people. . . I didn't know that used evo's w/no mods could sell for that much. . . I have been trying to sell mine w/mods for $25,000. . . I'm amazed. I picked the wrong job maybe.

Whoa ****, you went to Moore Mitsubishi, didnt you? I had a TERRIBLE, TERRIBLE, TERRIBLE experience there about 3 weeks ago. I went to go buy the white STI they had for sale there. They told me they would accept my offer of $22k. I drove there & they instantly, the best they could do was $23k. They also said it was 1 owner...it was a 3 owner (I still have the carfax in my room.) They said it drive great, no problems... & I found the car had been modified & problems EVERYWHERE!

So I left. I contact the manager 5 minutes later & tell him the story. He calls me back 5 minutes later & says, 'The best we can do is $22,500.' I said, WTF! I just drove all 207 miles from Springfield for NOTHING! This car has NO warranty left with all the aftermarket parts on it, I tell him. He says, "Yes it does." Then he went on to tell me about the $42k evo for sale, with all the parts on it. Im like, 'Who cares!'. He then says they were doing warranty work on an EVO right then & there on a modified EVO. I said, 'Subaru is NOT going to warranty out something that has been modified!'. He says, 'You can not speak for Subaru'. I said, 'So your saying, since its okay to modify an EVO, if I put a GT35r on it, blow the engine up, its okay because its an EVO?'. He couldnt give me a straight answer, & I said, quit trying to argue with me, & I hung up.

DOOOOOOOO NOOOOOOT DEAL WITH! I am seriously thinking of calling the better business bureau.. its was total bull****! I drove 407 miles total in one day for a bait & switch deal (which I told the manager).

I then, a week later, bought my new '03 RR Evo from West Brothers in Sulivan Missouri. About 70-80 miles south on I-44 from Moore. They also were slightly shady, but it all worked out ok. And to be honest, I couldnt be happier...and I am so happy that I got the EVO instead of the STI now.

Hmm... Seems like dealerships in general are pretty shady. Kirkwood Mitsu made it sound like they warranty everything, even if it isn't covered.

Yeah, Matt at Moore is an awesome and super nice guy. I noticed a lot of times, the Service department is disconnected from Sales. I guess it all comes down to how good the Service guys are cuz you rarely talk with the Sales guys after you buy the car.

I'm in the Brentwood area. Hooters this Saturday?... Can't make it. Hooters really isn't my thing though, to be honest. BWW rocks though!

What dealerships don't tell, or their service departments to be exact, is that for expensive repairs it has to be approved by Mitsu's regional rep. And those guys are trained to say "No" to everything.

Question.. Is 38K too much to pay for a new 06 TB Evo IX MR in Texas?

If you want to see a dealership that screws it's people check out Mitsubishi of Hawaii.. In 05 when I got my STi I went to look at Evo's first and they seriously wanted to start at 46K for the MR? That was insane, and ultimately what made me choose the STi instead..

When you are on an island, its kind of hard to argue with the mark-up.. but a 10K mark-up from the "mainland".. that was insane..
