IX launch control...

Do you guys love the way the IX have the rev limits at 5000 when you press the clutch always in. Launching at 5000 I think is the best way to catapolt of the line without damaging anything. Everytime I launch at 5000 Im already 5 or 6 cars ahead and I dont even smell my clutch. I just finally mastered launching my IX. Do you guys keep that rev limiter or you guys take it off.?

Most people keep it, if anything, they raise it a bit using ECUflash. There are a few threads on people's preferred limits in the ECUflash section

I'm pretty sure everyone knows launching is the best way to move from a dig

that's common sense

Wow, someone's just a weeeee bit happy today. My car puts a smile on my face everythime I drive it too. I just hope it never breaks. And I have never launched and never will launch mine. It may become a dedicated track car in the distant future though.

i launched my IX once, just to see what it feels like, and now that i know, ill never do it again im not made of money, and these cars are expensive enough without having to chance breaking drivetrain parts, or even a clutch.....

but i judge people... if you launch everyday, i envy you, it was a rush, but im just to cautious i guess

Second that, I have never really been able to launch without tranny stinking....
Lack of skill I guess...

i've only launch it twice. and not gonna do it again, cause it's pretty hard on the clutch if u do it wrong. most people say the stock clutch can take like 20-30 launches and time for new clutch.

Let me guess, all you guys shift at 3500 too right? Why did you buy an Evo if you're not going to drive it the way it was designed to be driven? It's a RACE car, not a BMW...

i drive it hard, but just don't launch it, and ending up paying arm and legs for xfer case and tranny rebuild.

5000 is a bit too low to get the Evo off the line at a prepped track without slipping the clutch to the roasting point. Most people increase the secondary rev limiter to 6000 rpms so that it wont bog off the line. At 6K you can break the tires loose a little on a sticky track. 5K can get them a little loose on the street but it will bog if there is VHT down. Also at 6K is probably makes a little more boost at launch. Careful though, there have been some reports of people blowing up during launch but I've logged a launch and didnt see knock higher than 1 or 2.

Why do you guys worry about breaking your car. Mitsubishi built the car for racing. Just learn how to launch it right. It took me like 5 try to figure it out how to launch it with bugging out or burning the clutch. Just use the 5000 rev limiter. I bug out only when i dump the clutch. Never dump the clutch thats when you break something.
