keep the VIII or get the IX
Reduce payments...ummm ok How much do you owe on your VIII now? IX's are sick if you're going to be messing around with moderate mods, as you know, 350whp happens by accident on IXs lol...However you could just save up a few grand and get your tranny fixed instead of starting all over again buying a $30k trading in your depreciated evo .
This is pointless just get a IX. Seems like you already made up your mind. later on you'll be wanting to get rid of the IX for the same reasons, and just keep burying yourself in debt. While you could have the car paid off sooner by keeping the VIII, and just use all that money for mod's and reach that HP figure. How many more years do you owe?
if you have to doubt, IX it is. This shouldn't even be a question to you, if your payment is going to be lower. I have no idea how you will be out of dept on your 8 and still have lower payment on the 9. Whatever your case may be, if 9 is easier on the $ for you.. why stick with 8 whats more costly and worn.
ask your self the question you've thrown to us..
9 is cheaper on payment, 9 is more new, your 8 is having problems.. what should i get!?

they are really almost the same car
9 is only better if your not planing to mod it much and plan to stay with the stock turbo.
if your going for HIGH HP you might as well safe yourself some money and just stay with the 8. when you stocrt building the motor and swaping out turbos and shooting for high hp it really does not matter if you have a evo 8 or 9

If you weren't looking to make so much power, I'd say wait for the X to come out and see if it's worth considering as an option. But if you're shooting for 6-7 hundreds, it could probably go either way. I know that getting into the 400's is a bit easier/cheaper with the IX, any higher than that, it's anyone's guess.

U said u wanna shoot for 6-700whp? If u think that u cant do that on a VIII, well, notice that ALL FIVE of them are VIIIs, making past more than what u want for. So, if I were u, keep ur VIII, fix it up and forget the IX.
If u still wanna feel like a IX "on the cheap", get a MIVEC head and ecu. It's a lot cheaper than buying a IX.
Any questions?
