Question need some advice guys

So hey im new to the site and was wondering if you guys could help me out. You see I don't know wether to get an evo or wait. Check it out, Im 17 and before I start getting called a stupid kid I must say I am really responsible and quite mature. I actually have a great job were I can easily afford the Evo. Problem is that Im planing to go to college and dont know if I should save my cash. I need advice from college grads who've been through college. So What Should I do.

Enough money to buy cash or loan? I'd just wait education is way more important than a car. Get something nice after you graduate. I wish I would've waited.

Wait till school is over. Get yourself a little something to learn/tool on during school. Keep current with the boards and you'll be more than ready to go.

You only live once man, go for it if you can afford it. On the other hand, makes more sense to get it after college.

Im not quite a college grad, but im 21 and just about start college... Again... What i really suggest is to take a year off. I went right into to college after high school and didnt know what i wanted to do (career wise), so therefore i didnt do so hot and lost my scholarships. I then took a year off working as a low level employee at a car dealership, but it allowed me to think about what i wanted to do. I decided i wanted to do something with cars, so im currently about to graduate with a diploma in automotive technology and then this summer im going back to school to do international business focusing on Japanese (took 4 years of the language in HS). Im not trying to give you my life story just another insight. If you know for sure what you want to do, which almost no one knows right out of HS, then go to college, but if not take a year off. You can always go to college. Just make sure you dont slack off and dont go. Good luck!

hey i am 17 also. i was in the same situation your in. i even had a jetta too lol. i dont regret buying my evo at all it is amazing. if you know for sure you have no problems affording it then go for it because like someone else stated above, you only live once. maybe after college you may not experience owning an evo because you might have done something else with your money or whatever but my suggestion is if you really want it, get it. i wont ever regret buying mine at my age. just my .02

In your shoes i'd get the less expensive commuter

you will:

1) Pay absorbent insurance costs which will total more than my payment and insurance combined
2) Put the evo into a high risk environment for being stolen, parking lots at school are great for break-ins
3) Be out money which would handle unforeseen expenses like say someone hits your car and you have to pay the deductible

Have fun

Im 21 and go to college I got one year left i got my evo 2 years ago and have no problem paying for it but even though i can afford it comfortably and still attend school i still think it would be a good idea to wait not that i regret it but the money could be saved or better spent at this point in your life.

I am 24 and a college graduate and I would say wait. Not only is school more important but just the cost of insurance on an evo at your age would deter me. Even if you can afford it, it is just irritating to know that the insurance company is taking advantage of you because of your age. When I was 18 I had a 99' impreza RS and was paying $250/month for insurance, now I pay $90/month for a 05' evo.
