Hii question about a car I want to buy...

Hi there.

I'm planning on buying a 1995 Eclipse GS-T ... The mileage on the car is 160,000 but it had an engine change to a EVO VII engine, that only has 50,000 miles on it. it has a K&N Intake, 17'' MOTEGI Rims, KUMHO tires, and smaller coilovers... and hits about 255 HP...

The guy is selling it for $3000... has no accidents... I currently have a 2002 Lancer ES... should I sell that and buy the GS-T?

Sounds to me like someone noticed Crankwalk symptoms and is trying to get rid of the car before she dies.

Might be true.

Have someone check it out before you consider purchasing it.

Exactly what do I specify to the tech who's going to check it out besides just saying "I want a full check."?

edit: I'm clueless @ cars except for very small general things. Help is much appreciated.

no. the 95 GSTs had more than crank walk problems. they had lower ball joint issues-especially when lowered.

if your interested, my neighbor down the street has a 96 eagle talon AWD for $3800. i have done the tune ups on it.( timing belt, tensioner, wp, etc) i see your from the 805, where at??

i thought the evo VII motor wouldnt fit to well due to it being somewhat reversed. the cam gears are originally in the right side of the 2g talon/eclispe and the tranny sits different as well. the EVO VII is obvisously the same as the VIII and IX the cam gears are on the left and the tranny on the right of the car (when facing the car)

i think he means the EVO III engine. the EVOIII engine was the same as the later years with minimal changes. it was popular to change to the EVOIII exhaust manifold, turbo, etc. it is like our e8 when we put on the e6.5TME turbos, etc...

hey. i've researched the crank walk, and got the problems/symptoms. the guy said it has no problems, and no accidents, and that the engine is a EVO VII or VIII and only has 50,000 miles on it. I posted a pic in the post:

I dont know if you could tell if thats a evo VII or VIII engine or not, but check it out.

From what I've read, the problems are on the Eclipse's... but since this has a diff. engine, do you think that would resolve/remove the problem, seeing as the ppl who had it had stock cars/engines?

i believe the evo 4 was the first evo to sport the intake to the drivers side for balance during rally racing
