mbc problem on evo viii

I just installed my turbo xs mbc the other day. everything ran fine for about two days; boost was turned up to 20psi. At the end of day two my boost would stop at 11psi and sputter really bad w/black smoke. I checked for leaks and found nothing. After trying to fix it and test it, my water pump went out. I have no idea wtf that happened. anybody ever experience that or know what could be wrong????? thanx in advance.

1st question-what kind of boost gauge were you using, and which line was it tapped in to?

What about the MBC did you try checking it? I would try pulling it out and going stock (stock boost control)see if that works.

Im using an Autometer Ultra Lite. Its tapped into the vacuum hose with the blue dashes that goes to the intake manifold. (passenger side)

Check your IC hoses. Sounds like you blew one off and get some better hose clapms at NAPA while you're at it.

Yeah, you should check the IC hose fittings. Isn´t this TurboXS MBC one of the problematic ones? The water pump failure is not related to your boost problem.

I never had a problem with running them in the past but I have heard others have had issue with them. I usually recommend hallman if someone can't afford an electronic one.
Take the boost controller off and turn the set screw out. Then shake it. If you don't hear any rattling then something may have gunked it up.

i just took the boost controller off and checked and it still has the rattle when it's turned down. I double checked all the lines and the IC pipes and all are secure, and it STILL FLUTTERS @ 11psi. so i dont know. I'm sure i have a boost leak somewhere or something, but i cant figure it out! grr
