downshifting issue

Recently, my car has been making a whining sound when downshifting, especially at higher speeds. It does not do it when upshifting.

The whining only happens for about the first 10 minutes upon driving and then everything is fine. My commute to work is about 45 min to an hour so I have been noticing this every morning and then when I leave, but it clears up about 10 minutes or so into driving.

Any ideas?

After your transmission fluid warms up there is less gear noise.

Post a clip of the noise so we can diagnose the issue more accurately.

I highly doubt I can downshift, hold the steering wheel, and record the sound at the same time....lol

You have two options. You can either leave the recorder running while your driving or have a passenger do it for you. Either way a recorder usually records continuously after you push the button.

Throw 3 qt. redline shockproof light in it and learn to rev-match. The fluid is changed not flushed unless you have one of those automatic evos. Have a nice day.

my first instincts would have been that the fluid did not warm up, but the mornings have been around 70 or so to start. Like I said, it is only within the first 10 minutes of driving. I will get the fluid attended to.

match rev

A little stab at the gas on the downshift makes your tranny happy for sure.
