Insurance question for younger Evo owners

I was just wondering what everyone is doing about insurance. I work for an insurance company and after reading around here, I started to come up with some questions.

Are the younger Evo owners (16-23) a.under their parents insurance and listed as the primary driver or b.have one of their parents listed as the primary driver?

if so, what's the price difference?

I know as age increases, your amount decreases (not necessarily, it also depends on your record, but just in general).

I read around here that adults pay around $120/month.
I'm pretty sure almost everyone has full coverage for their Evo.

i don't want to seem nosey, just curious as to what i have to expect.

Im 21, and i work for an insurance co. Basically if you have your parents listed as primary and you as a authorized driver, the rates will be lower 99% of the time. With certain insurance companies (progressive for one) it doesnt have to be the owner who is primary on the policy, it can be anyone, so if u had an uncle, or aunt, or grandparent who was willing to put the insurance in their name w/ you as an authorized driver, you could do that and the rate would be cheaper. My rates were as follows
Evo: 275/month (state farm)
R32: 367/monht (progressive)
WRX: 225/month. (progressive)

Progressive also seems to look as the evo as "lancer" for the most part so insurance for the evo seems cheapest through them for most people. If your driving record is SPOTLESS!!!!!!!!! Gieco seems to be the cheapest ive found. They quoted me 133 a month for full coverage 2/ 100k-300k limits.

Well i am 21 and am under my own insurance policy, with me as the only driver of the car. My monthly insurance rates are about $200 a month.

I have full coverage.

I never had the EVO under my parents policy so im not sure of what the difference would be.

wow, you guys found some good rates lol. the quote i received to be on my own policy was about 470/month with geico. on my parents policy with me as the primary driver, it'd still be 415/month. so i figure the way to go is just have her as the primary driver. I think it's time to switch after some of the feedback I've seen here.

To be honest, you don’t have to be the primary driver on the evo for there to be coverage. As long as you are listed on the policy, you are covered to drive any vehicle on that policy, not just the one you are primary on. If your parents have other vehicles, I would have them put you are primary on the cheapest, safest one to get the rate lower, you are still 100% covered to drive the Evo should anything happen while you are driving it.
Example:
You and your parents have: Toyota Camry, Jeep Grand Cheerokee, and the Evo
Have then put you as primary on something else, like the camry to keep the rate lower. Drive the evo @ a much lower rate=happy

Also just to let you know, insurance rates will vary drasticly depending on where you live. To insure a car in NJ, or NYC can easliy cost over $1,000 more per 6 month period than it would to insure a car in Atlanta, or Mississippi. Sucks major ****!

yeah, that's how it is now. I'm just added on the policy, and my mom is the primary driver of both the vehicles. Now that I'm getting an Evo, shes going to be the primary for all 3 so the rate is a lottt lower.

i used to live in NY and the insurance for the same 2 cars now was less than it is in FL lol. We had Allstate then & Geico now. State Farm is looking pretty sweet lol.

Thanks for all the feedback guys.

I pay $140 a month on my OWN policy and im 21!!!! I got such a hell of a deal. Actually, if I didnt have a wreck on my record, or a speeding a ticket, my agent said we could have got it down to $500 every 6 months, full coverage (thats $83 a month for the mathmatically impaired).

My and my g/f have a 'domestic partnership' on my own policy. Thats why I get it so cheap. And I go through the Hartford. Anybody can get the same rate as me, just call Hartford & they will do it! Having a 'domestic partnership' is just like being married.
