...I live in Madison, WI, I'd be lucky to find a shop that can install directional tires on the right way. It just seemed like everyone recommended AMS for my location, I agree that their prices are a little high but it didn't seem like there was a good enough shop around here that I would trust.

Maybe they were confused and thought you had an VIII? The IX definitely has different plugs, so no plugs that fit the VIII can fit the IX. A drop-in is fine, but so is the stock intake. If you get an aftermarket intake, only get a basic $80 cone filter from BR or AMS...

The hard IC pipes don't make sense - those are not much of a power mod, but it's good way to get some bling. You're missing some basics like an MBC and fuel pump. Plus, cams should be before meth...meth should be last, since it's a risky mod, imo.

Spookpur, going to AMS is definitely a great choice, because you get your money's worth along with the peace of mind knowing experts are doing the work. There might not be a shop in WI that you can trust, but there are probably others closer to you who might be cheaper yet still trustworthy. If not, then you just have to adjust the mod list according to the installation costs. Get the right parts, though, if you're going to spend 3k...

Oh yeah, you and Tarmacisback REALLY need to get rid of those horrid springs. Killing your awesome IXs with terrible springs is blasphemous...

Why are they horrid? the stock springs were pretty stiff riding, the H-Tech ones lowered the car, not too much but a good stance. That and they ride even better than the stockers, with better cornering.

If you don't know why they are horrid, then you haven't done any research on what's good for your car. The stock springs are SUPPOSED to be stiff - this is a purebred race car. The Teins lowered the car at the detriment of handling, and they will blow your shocks. You don't get cheap springs for 'stance.' You get them for handling. The "stance" is just a by-product of the improved handling, but you should get a proper set of coilovers to do that or at least a set of springs specifically designed to improve handling and NOT kill the shocks. The Teins do not "ride" better and they DEFINITELY don't corner better. The only improvement in ride might be that they aren't as stiff, but that's not a good thing.

Take a few minutes to research Tein springs on here and tell me what you find...

Just curious as to why everyone is recommending cams for a mildly modded 4g63 w/MIVEC?

Did I miss something proving that they are worthy of the time/cost/gains?
