Is 500 for a stock Evo worth it?
So I joined a local Car forum and I want to put out there that I dont think this guy was being mischievous, deceiving, or trying to rip me off but in this day and age with access to internet and 1000s of company's out there is $500 to much for a tune on a stock Evo? Now before I get jumped on for posting this I read about 40 posts and still haven't come up with anything useful to me. So asking this question directly to you my community of evo buddys what do you think?
This is what he posted to me and who he was talking about who is coming locally:Congrats on your new evo! You interested in getting your evo tuned right? I am having a tuner come July 6-9th and he can do a full custom tune for 500 bucks and even if your stock you'll gain like 30-40whp just from a reflash tune. I also have some parts for sale that can give you some more power if you want get it? The tuner is Scott from TTP and his paypal is sales@ttp-engineering.com and you need a minimum deposit of 200 to secure you spot to get tuned. Let me know soon........
Again I think this guy was being nice for letting me know and I dont have any doubt of that and I am thankful for his offer.

I wouldn't pay that much. What are you tuning a stock Evo for? Get mods, and then get a tune. my 2c. You might be paying that much to pay for him to travel up to Alaska. Look up Mellon on here (Screenname), he can do it WAY CHEAPER!!
Look him up, he will take care of you:

TTP is well proven. Its pretty much your decision. Like smokedmustang said, Mellon can help you out. Plenty of tuners out there. What do you have planned to put on the car? My advice would be check out some packages from either Buschur Racing or AMS. One thing you want to make sure is don't buy any exhaust that isn't a full 3" or any BOV that isn't a recirculate type. Kinda gets old here when someone asks about the HKS BOV. Haha.
Well I was looking into Tanabe Medalion and someone posted they got it and really liked it today. I was also looking into AMS. Do I really need a BOV I thought I wanted that sound till I was hearing it in a parking lot this weekend and was like ok that would get annoying fast.
Haha, no you don't need to upgrade your BOV until you go pass 25psi. I was just pointing out that you shouldn't worry about any VTA bov, only recirculate. Also remember to upgrade your fuel pump while you're at it. Going to need that when cranking up the boost.

scott is a well known trustworthy tuner and an outstanding installer
he has gone beyond the call of duty for me a few times
he ALWAYS has the best pricing(or equal to best) for parts.
i would assume the 500 you are paying is an additional charge for travel expenses
as he lives in Orlando.
i would also assume that he will actually road tune your vehicle.
most of the flashes done on cars are done through the tuner sending you a "generic" tune and you using a cable which you provide to upload the program.
there is a large difference in quality to a in person road or dyno tune.
i am sure there arent to many visits by tried and true tuners to alaska.
i would jump on this if i had this opportunity

Where is this tuner coming from? I also think that $500 is a lot of money for a tune.. you can get a good tune for much less than that... i think Buschur may even do it for less.... call them and talk to Nick or Jared.....
From Michigan I see I also am from Grand Blanc Michigan. Stationed up in Ak still but only for about 2 months... Well there is a Local guy I have been hearing alot of good things about. Desro Tunning. I may check this guy out and see what he as to say at least
but you need to call TTP he just told me that he is going to alaska and then to Puerto Rico, email them
however you need some bolt-ons before you get a tune like TBE, Intake, clutch, cams , boost controler ect....
