I know probably in your case you probably couldn't have gotten over, but I believe it is now law here and possibly in other states to get over a lane for cops and emergency vehicles...whether in the left or right shoulder. Definitely a good thing that could save lifes. Ever seen those dash cam vids of morans hitting the pulled over vehicles and sending the cops/people flying?

The fact is there is always going to be someone or something that will affect your commute whether it be a Mini Van or Geese crossing the road.....you can be defensive and aware of your surroundings but unexpected crap happens. All you can do is drive to the best of your abilites and hope you get home in one piece.

Of course ppl should drive defensively.. which i do... however that is not always going to save u from ppl who do not follow simple driving habits such as indicating that they are about to pull into your lane while u are going at such a high speed...

it doesnt matter how defensive you are, its always the other ppl on the road. Had i been ableto switch lanes, i would have Definately done so... but it was 5:00pm and ppl dont care, they wont let u over..

P.S I have the Hawk Brake pads on my car now, i forgot to mention that.... LOVE THEM!

Just one note: The main reason you have so much stopping power is because of your tires. Most modern braking systems would have done the same thing given good, wide tires. The thing the Brembos, or any larger braking system, have over normal brakes is the ability to resist fade after repeated braking and heat soak. That's one reason I would never downgrade my tires. Since you did not wreck into the minivan, I assume you haven't downgraded your tires either...because the best brakes in the world aren't going to save you running 400 treadwear 60K mile all-season tires...

Stupid *** cops should make people pull OFF the freeway so they don't cause traffic delays...or better yet, only pull people over if they are driving dangerously, not because they are exceeding some arbitrary "maximum speed" which is more than double in other countries without the world exploding (partly because they are better drivers with better cars but still...).

In Oregon it is illegal to drive past a cop in the lane next to where they pulled someone over on the freeway if it is at all possible to get over, and if it's not possible you are supposed to drive like on the line. They should have just made it illegal for them to pull people over ON THE FREEWAY which would have solved the problem but without causing gridlock every time they shoot their damn ricky radar or laser pistol and "catch" someone "speeding". Whenever I get pulled over on the freeway I just roll down my window and indicate I'm going to pull over, but after I take the next exit unless there isn't an exit for a long time.

Ya know, I understand people make mistake... we are all guilty of cutting someone off because we didn't look or almost merged into a lane by accident.. what drives me up a f'in wall is when someone does that and then flips at you like you did something wrong... that blows my f'in lid.

If I accidentally merge or cut someone off I immediately wave and say I am sorry and realize I made a mistake. What a POS that lady was.

You must ride a motorcycle. That is the mentality you always have to have riding around. Always assume that its going to go bad, and know how to react when it does.

And there was no real Way out of that... to the left of me was a line of traffic.. to the right of me.. was a narrow shoulder and then a steep hill... not a good place to go.. ( down i mean)... so there wasnt any real solution as a way out... however i do practice defensive driving on a regular basis.. this just happened to be the idiocy of the other driver.
