own an '06 Si, and looking at EVO's....

Okay last year my DSM blew up. I had a 99 GSX, and i loved that car... anyhow it was all unexpected so i bought what i could afford at the time. So i got a 2006 Civic Si coupe. I really do like the car, but i'm still wanting more power, more speed, more traction.

I took it to the track last week and ran a 14.9 @ 93.9 MPH. I beat the magazine times of 15.2 I was very happy with the run. but then i realize 14's is for slow cars. I want a fast car.

So i looked into turboing my Si, $5k kit can give me 386whp, and run high 12's However i don't have $5k, but i could get a loan for it. but then i look at evos and realize i could get into one for about $150 more a month than my civic. i couldn't get a $5k loan for that i don't think. So i think it might be cheaper and easyer to buy a new car. Evo X, or IX not sure.

so should i stick with my Si, or go look at evos?

Go drive an evo IX, and all your questions will be answered.

i would look at evos, and with fwd and that much power you are also gonna have traction problems. With little money you can make an evo very fast.

Well i did post this same post on 8thcivic.com

The si not bad off the line for FWD with LSD. I had a 2.2 60' with OEM crap tires.

I don't need to be the fastest car on earth. But i was getting eaten alive by Neon srt-4s at the track. damn neons!.

i figure mid 12's is the fastest i'd want to go really. not sure how much i'd need to do to an evo to do that.

I'm gonna have to look into insurance also, cause that my tip the scales. i pay $160/month on my SI. 1 ticket 1 accident.

try looking for used evo or wait for evo rallyart.
they are around same price as civic si
insurance is going to be extra 100 bucks if ur paying 120 for civic.
i was paying full coverage mazda 6 $120 month
After evo, paid 190 per month but after my 25th birthday, dropped to around $100/month
no ticket, no accident ever.

If u can pay $300/month more than what ur paying evo is definitely ur car.
But driving evo will make u spend more money on car(mod)
btw maintaining evo is twice expensive as civics due to syn oil, low profile tires

Obviously your looking at the pros and cons to keeping your civic or buying an evo. How's your driving record because the insurance on these is prettymuch determined on that fact. I have a clean driving record and only race at the track so my insurance isn't bad at all. Next your probably looking at gas mileage something your civic is obviously know for. I'll tell you this right now, it all depends on your right foot. But then again your a car enthusiast (spelling?) so do you want to think about how much gas your saving like prius owners or how fun your car is to drive which the evo excells in. Think about these things because if you test drive an evo whether it be an RS,GSR,MR,SE your going to forget your civic faster than R-Kelly forgets his sanity at a pre-school.

From a financial standpoint this is a stupid decision to trade in for an evo.

Drop a 35r in a k20 honda or any K series and I bet you'll be surprised..
Talk to skunk2 or Hasport. They would point you in the right direction.

HA! if you put a 75 shot of NOS in an evo with just a turbo back and a reflash with a fuel pump upgrade you'll go like 11.8 not 12.8 gauranteed with perfect shifting and an exedy twin plate.

if you can work it out get the evo, i got rid of my wrx after a year becuase i knew that the evo was so much better, and it is, and i know you would rather have a wrx than the civic, so why not just straight for the evo, lord knows thats what basically everybody who is into cars should have done in the first place.
