getting under the car

yeah i know this is stupid to begin with, but I want to know how you guys get under your car to get stuff done. Right now I just need to get the spark plug fouler on and really don't want to go back to the shop that put the exhaust on and have them make me pay like $50 to screw it in....so I wanted to know what you guys typically do to get under there...what you use or what not.

DON'T JUST USE A JACK!!! If you're going to get under the car, you need either a jack AND stands or Rhino ramps (or equivalent). Getting under the car with just a jack is pretty dangerous. Don't want to read a post on here "well, my car collapsed on top of me"

You can get Rhino ramps for $30-40 at your local autoparts store...some Walmarts carry them too.

Any jack that's low enough to get under the car will work, but if you guys have a Harbor Freight tool store (or similar) on the east coast, they have a jack that's similar to a racing jack, meaning it's an aluminum frame, low profile jack (so light you can carry it in one hand) and it lifts the car in a few pumps. It's a two ton capacity, small, and very cool looking, and it's relatively cheap (I think I paid $70?). And as previously stated, get jack stands too. You don't want to rely on any jack to hold the car up while you're under it...

Anybody use jack stands with the jack that is in the trunk?

are you on stock suspension ? if so, just get rhino ramps from walmart... they are like 40 bucks and you can just drive right up on them. Im lowered on S techs and still use mine, i just have 2 2 x 4's that i roll up on. It high enough to do all the fluid changes on the front end, turbo installs and such.

that might be tricky. I know i cant get a MR SE on my ramps without the 2 x 4's. It just barely touches the ramp.... you would be good with them... it saves jacking the thing up all the time.

To drive up onto before driving onto the ramps so it's not as steep

2x4s will work, I dug out a 2x6 so it was a little wider and I didn't have to worry about one getting kicked out while I was getting it onto the ramps.

Someone mentioned rhino ramps earlier and how they can clear their evo with no problem. I've got some sort of rhino ramps and the front lip hits unless I'm using the 2x4/2x6 even with the stock suspension; so ymmv depending on how lumpy your driveway, parking lot, etc is.
