I dont know about other banks, but the title should always be sent back to you once registered. Takes a couple weeks, but on the actual title, it will show who the lienholder is and the private party keeps the title in possession. Never have I had to give the title back to the bank for them to hold on to it.

SO, the previous owner of the car SHOULD have the title in hand if it works that way in other states.

I've been in this situation before, but mine was w/ a dealership. Took a month (made the 1st payment too) for the dealer to release the Certificate of Origin to me because of a miscommunication between the salesman I dealt w/ and their DMV lady. The salesman thought all was well and the title would soon be on its way, but the DMV lady thought he was getting the address to either my bank or license branch to send it there. Luckily, they sent me the CA equivalent of a temp tag w/ the car on accident, so I was technically legal and able to drive it.

And my loan and registration is in my name, but insured under my dad's. IN doesn't care who's name it's insured under, all they want is a policy number. I actually didn't have the policy number for the Evo yet (it was insured, just no card yet), so I gave them the number on my Accord. Shows how much they check up on it.

How were you allowed to get a loan without full coverage insurance?

i just received the title yesterday. you're right though, i don't have to give the title back to the bank, I believe I'll have to give the title to the FL State DMV. I'm really not sure how it works here, I've gotten so many different answers. I'm going to register this thing tomorrow.

I think I remember talking to you in another one of my threads about shipping or similar lol. You're def pretty lucky in the fact that they sent you those tags on accident lol. I hope FL is like IN regarding insurance. It's funny how DMV's are so strict yet there are so many ways to sneak by the system lol.

Oh no, I'm paying for full coverage for it, I just put it under my mothers name because of her age; her rates are a LOT lower than mine at 19.
