Water to Air Intercooling?

Just wondering if anyone ever uses a water-to-air charge air cooler on the Evo.

My last car used water-to-air I/C, and was pretty damn efficient. able to produce AIT's 10-15° over ambient at cruise. 40-60° over ambient at idle, and at WOT @14psi.

Is there a kit out there that people are using?

ill take that as a, "nodoby has tried it yet"

seriously.

Benefits:
really short charge piping
More efficient than air2air
No need for FMIC

Downsides:
pump can fail (after 60+K miles)
1gal of water = 8lbs
nobody makes a kit

Space limitation on the evo, complexity of the system and the fact that the big name front mounted air to air are pretty efficient even on high horsepower cars have made them nonexistent.

Looks of a FMIC ALONE have negated the need for an air/water. And those of us that need a cooler charge simply run meth.

^yea...i get all that.

Im just throwing around ideas. I know that there is an Evo out there in the 7's or 8's running an icebox to a water/air IC.

Ill prolly mess around with that one day, i have a buncha stuff left over from my old car.

Remove the battery, relocated to the trunk, and put a water/air IC box there.

but it still sounds like everyone is 100% sold on Air-to-Air...dunno why really.

Air to air is the better bang for the buck and, as mentioned, most people are running water/meth injection to pick up the slack. If you relocate the batter you will have room for a water/air setup. I look forward to seeing the results if you go this route.

^for sure, I have 4 spare Laminova cooling coils lying around from my old car, just gotta get out the welder and a whole BUNCHA free time to weld somthing together...lol.

The standard Bosch water pump for mosr supercharged cars, is only $99, a used Aftercooler radiator out of a 03-04 cobra is $50. Buncha 3/4" hose and a few clamps, and it should be able to fit where the upper IC pipe is...
