I am about to order a Megan o2 housing and 3" downpipe. Alot of people get there o2's swain (thermal) coated and either wrap or coat the downpipe. Would I see any benefit from doing this? I'm on the stock turbo at 20lbs of boost. Please explain the benefits for me. Thank you in advance.

It actually helps keep the engine bay cooler and makes the exhaust flow faster. You probably won't feel a difference though. I say go for it.

 

On my 1G I had my exhaust manifold,O2 housing and the exhaust of the turbo coated by HPC using their extreme coating. Looks real nice and cooler under the hood as far as gains per $ not very good but sure does look nice.

Yah after a hard run I can keep my hand over the manifold for more than 2 seconds!

 

I doubt you'll find any measurable gains.
