Rumor or Fact?

Basicly I want to know if it's true that Mitsubishi's(such as evo and other high performance cars) tranny's break after ~80K miles.

My friend keeps telling me that this is true because those transmissions are made for high performance so they wear out like other parts and usually break after 80K. His dad owns a '91 3000GT and according to my friend, the transmission is already shut and the car is only at ~50K. I said that maybe it's just a worn out clutch but he thinks otherwise.

All I want to know is if this is true or not and just try to prove a point to me

*Note that I don't know a lot technical info about cars but I do know quiet enough.

LOL...

theres nothing special about our transmissions.. we have the same standard transmision design.. although our drivetrain might be more advanced than other transmissions.. mitsubishi wouldnt have bothered to put a 100k mile warranty on it if they knew it would break in 80k...

ur friends wrong.. tell him to shutup and get an evo and rub it in his face..

Just like anything else.. Poor maintainance and abuse means broken parts.. If you take care of your stuff, it'll last as long as you own your car.
