Ok as some of you might know I dont daily drive my Evo and its something I drive here and there. Well today and here lately my clutch has been making a tremendous amount of noise. I have a Exedy twin plate clutch and I know that their known for "chatter" and things like that but the noise I think is excessive. It makes this noise only when I let off the gas like if im in 4th gear and im on the gas normal and let off the gas it makes the noise. Also when I let off my clutch pedal it makes a sqeeking noise.....someone help me.

from my experience with aftermarket clutches in my 300zx... it's completely normal. what sounded excessive to me (with both exedy and ACT parts) never gave me a problem.. i just turned the music up.

for the squeaking pedal, try to lubricate the cylinder press rod a bit. same thing happened with my dad's explorer's brake pedal and a little lubrication fixed it up.

but this noise is very excessive to the point were its freaking me out or I could just be going crazy. Everytime I let off the gas pedal it makes this awful chatter noise if I could call it that and its worst and worst everytime I drive it.

i think its normal. i have an exedy with a lightweight f.w. and it makes the worst chattering sound ever when i let off the pedal. it even does it at idle with the ac on. its not a good sound

Well the car always made the chatter noise which is expected with this clutch but here lately over the past 3-4 weeks its just gotten unbearable. So is it like the older the clutch gets the louder it is? I just dont want to be driving it if something is going out.

Here ya go....I have a single plate exedy, and a light weight flywheel. After install I have had thesame problem....well after a lot of research, and the installers lack of common sense, it's the throw out bearing. It's an annoying sound, and having a lightened flywheel only makes the sound worse. The only solution is to use a factory OEM throwout bearing. I asked my installer to put in the Mitsu bearing, and he spaced it.... now, I (as well as yourself) have two choices, 1) to live with it, OR 2) replace the throwout bearing. BTW, if you wait to long, you will throw out back trying to free the throwout bearing from the input shaft at time of replacement.

from what i have seen the Exedy is quite quiet, compared to the tilton and carbonetics clutches.

The clutches are fairly quite, it's their throwout bearings that rattle like an epliteptic in a tin can...
