Bang for buck

searched for a few minutes and found nothing of use to me.
but how is the evo in bang for buck? i know the 4g63 eats mods like crazy
but i was just wondering about the prices.

just wondering because i went to cobb tuning's site a day or two ago and saw that it was $1,800 or so for an intake, exhuast and a tune for an sti whic results in 350hp and 385 ft-bls which is in my eyes rediculous for that kind of power.

a Z32 for example for $1,800 can have a down pipes, test pipes and an hks hiper exhuast, dual intakes,an ecu tune, bigger throttle bodies and make 400 rwhp+ and with the automatic transmission Z32 turbos and have full boost at 2500 rpms. but then again it does have a full liter of displacement over the evo and half a liter over the sti.

so i was just curious are evo performance prices are about the same as the Z's?.

thanks guys.

Sounds kinda expensive.

I'm sure you could find better pricing at most places such as:

https://secure.buschurracing.com/cat...0ee47c5b3f4537

http://www.amsperformance.com/store/...oducts_id=1022

The amount of what you get depends on vendor

thats still alot for only a 50hp increase. but those are alot better prices.

what can you generally beat with a stage 1 ams on the highway (if both drivers are competent) if the other car is stock?

thanks for the info.

Not to be a complete *** here but 50hp on 4 cylinders is a pretty large gain.

400whp on a v6 is basically 67whp per cylinder
400whp on a I4 is 100whp per cylinder
even 350whp on a I4 is 87whp per cylinder

The Evo's engine is somewhat amazing in that aspect.

As street racing is forbidden here I'm not going to discuss it.

Supergoji, also, Cobb's stuff is relatively new and their stuff tends to be a little more expensive because of quality. But keep in mind that if you looked at only Cobb's off-the-shelf items, they don't really have a tune, as you may have been looking at their AccessPort, which is a hand-held device that already includes built-in maps (Stage 1, Stage 2, economy, valet, anti-theft; all for either California 91 octane, 93 octane and sometimes 100 octane) that you can manually switch on-the-fly, plus you can download other maps onto it, so it's a lot more than just a new flash, hence why it's a little more pricey when you add everything together.

VIII with stage one (with a good driver) should run high 12's in the 1/4
IX with stage one (with a good driver) should run mid 12's in the 1/4

I hope that helps.

PM me if you have any other questions about parts or tuning services.

ya I just re-read the rules and no street racing there got it.

umm but ya I don't have an evo, I was just curious about it's power capabilites for price. reason being I know a few people with evo's and sti's and they don't respect twin turbo 300zx's. so I just wanted to see how much they were paying for thier mods and what responses they were getting out of the engine.

and just today idk wtf is up with my engine but it's stalling left and right and my car is acting up, all of a sudden it just stalls and everything starts flashing and beeping up like it's gonna explode. so i might be forced to swap....or get another car (evo hopefully lol...)

basically if you go to the links that have already been posted from buschur or ams the stage 1 will give you the following after being tuned:

VIII ~ 300whp
IX ~ 330whp

Hope that helps.

Once your z dies get an evo and never look back.
