Hey everybody, I've been reading through some of the threads and have already started to learn a lot, it's like everyone on here knows so much about their cars already and i'm only starting to get to know my own (it's an 04 RA).

I don't know if this is the right place but I had a problem with my Ralliart a few months ago, I was driving back from northern cali to my home in southern cali, when the engine light came on and i slowly started to lose power, no matter how much i pressed the accelerator i couldn't get anything from it. I finally managed to get off to the side of the road and turn the car off, i started it again and the check engine light was on and i couldn't go any faster than 35 or 45 mph. The next day i had it towed to some mechanics (through AAA), who said they couldn't find anything wrong with it and the check engine light had gone off (they didn't use an ecu scanner or anything, it went off on it's own). After that I was able to drive it home, HOWEVER, a few weeks later i realized that if i drove for more than hour or too fast (75mph+) for too long it would happen again. So, what I did then was have it checked out by my friend who owns a shop, he said it was the TPS(Throttle Position Sensor?) going off telling the engine to shut down. After, I took it to a mitsu dealership to see if i could get it fixed, but they said the RA doesn't necessarily have a TPS. So, I managed to get it home and just got the oil changed and it hasn't happened since then. Since then, I've slowly been pushing it past 75 or 80 to see if it will happen again. I am just wondering if anyone knows what actually happened to my car. I'd appreciate any insight since I plan on driving it back up north in about 2 weeks! Please help and thank you!

If that was too much, basically here's what happens, drive for too long or too hard(fast), check engine light comes on and the car dies for a while. Wait a while, light goes off and can be driven fine for a while. What is exactly going on and if something is going on what can i do to reconcile the problem? Thanks again!

I saw this a few weeks ago in the general area. I'd search for Ralliart TPS. I believe had the exact same issue.

 

yyeaahh...i checked and it didn't look like the problem ever really got resolved and plus i'm pretty sure i pulled a different ecu code..i posted again in the RA noob thread, so hopefully something can get done, i didn't mean to double post, i just found that my post was more suited for that thread than this one (in a sense).
