Boost Controller

I recently installed a boost gauge in my Evo 9 and the gauge is only reading a max of 18 psi at full throttle. Then the other day it peaked at 20 psi then tapered down like it should. I've tried duplicating that same thing, but it only peaks at 18 psi. I know that my evo should run at 20.3 psi and max is 22 psi. What is up with my car? Is the ECU adjusting boost depending on air temp., fuel, etc.? Do all Evo 9s do this? My friends recommend that I just get a boost controller, but will I need to get the ECU reflashed in order for it to work properly without having any problems? (The only mods that I have now is an intake, intercooler hard piping, test pipe, catback exhaust, and gauges.) Any input on this question would help, Thanks!!!!

Check out Mellon Tuning for a tune..

Check out the Buschur Racing MBC..

and yes depending on the air temp your boost will vary because its primarly controlled by your ECU..

you adjust a knob till you get the boost you like and then you leave it alone. Personally I prefer an electric boost controller.

If your looking for a manual boost controller I have a dejon MBC in my garage with about 20 miles on it that you can have for $30 shipped.

you'll find it here:
http://all.dejonpowerhouse.com/edit/A-03.htm

scroll down to single manual boost controller.

It limits the flow to the wastegate by either venting boost from the line or restricting flow via ball and spring mechanism.
