Thanks for the input guys. They're both new, and silver, which is not my favorite, but the only white one is at a dealer who wants an additional $6k for it. I'm buying the car for track days. I own a Kawi dealer and have road raced m-cycles for a long time. I took a year off and raced a 911 GT2 (I wish, but not owned by me) 8-9 years ago, and have got the itch lately to go flog 4-wheels at the track again. I'm getting older, and all the injuries I've accumulated racing bikes are starting to catch up with me. I'm looking to get my ya-ya's in an enviornment where I don't need to contort my forty-year-old *** into positions it no longer wants to get into.
The Evo seems to be a really good package right out of the box. I figure sorting the suspension, and maybe getting a few more ponies out of it, might make a for a really good time.

If you're going to track it, i say save the money for the suspension upgrades.
But I must advise you, don't buy a car with the color that you might regret later on. I bought my black Evo and at first it was OK because I was just excited about the Evo thing. But Black is a B!tch to keep clean. I am regretting that I didn't get a white one. So you don't want to be like me, were later on down in the road when you look at your car and you're thinking, "Damn I should had bought it in that color."
But IX Apex silver is pretty nice. It has a nice hint of purple when the sun hits it.
Well good luck bro.

Yeah, I hear you, but the only white one being $6k over sticker, and $10k over the SE, makes me not even think twice about it. If I was really concerned, I could have the car stripped and color changed for 1/3 of the difference
The SE would be my choice. In fact, it was my choice. Much like you, I was looking for a new car. I had owned a 2003 GSR, a 2004 RS, and was ready to buy a new 2006. I looked at the MR, but only momentarily. I didn't want the 6 speed to constantly be worrying about 4th gear and cooling issues. The suspension on them is nice and completely rebuildable, although you don't see many people do it. Most just junk the stock MR suspension for some aftermarket stuff.
The SE had everything I wanted. It had the HID's (which after owning the RS I was determined to get HID's again), it had the aluminum roof, it had the 5 speed, and it had the BBS wheels. In fact, it had BBS wheels that looked better than the MR's BBS wheels. Of course I was thinking about changing out the wheels as soon as I got the car, but those diamond black BBS's make some good winter wheels.
Not to mention the SE has the best looking seats (in my opinion). I love that red stitching.

Damn 10K is too much. Don't they have to price match?

Not if you're looking for new. I've seen a used RS, but $27k for an '04 is totally ridiculous IMO.
I'm going with the SE, thanks to the input from you guys.
Next stop, the track. After that, I'll find out where it needs help in the suspension dept, and I'll hit that first.
Any "must do's" right off the bat? Like short throw shifter... better pads, brake ducting (does the car even have any?)
Thanx again, guys!

Go pick that bad boy up and before you know it you'll be making excuses to go places just so you can drive your car
