6th gear is nice when I commute in it.
Congrats on the purchase!

I got a great deal on my car. But If I could do it again I'd get the 5speed.

The SE is gonna have a 5 speed and it looks sexy. Not very many people like the 6 speed. Too many probs.

Plus it costs more, weighs more and is rated with slightly lower fuel economy... not a good combo.

The 6 speed has better mpg, and is maybe only 10-13lbs heavier.

Are you ever going fast enough on the freeway to hit 6 gear? I had a Lexus 6 speed and hardly ever reach 6th

Well, that's a little inaccurate, based on Mitsu's provided numbers:

6-speed: 18 city/24 highway mpg
5-speed: 19 city/25 highway mpg

^ Obviously nothing huge, but the 5-speed has better claims, and real-world results should mirror a similar difference between the two transmissions (though maybe not those exact numbers). Personally, I've gotten as high as 26.22 mpg in my SE, I'd be surprised if there are many bone stock IX MRs that can match that.

More Mitsu numbers:

MR curb weight: 3285 lbs.
GSR curb weight: 3274 lbs.
SE curb weight: 3263 lbs.

^ So yes, the MR is only 11 pounds heavier than the GSR, but still 22 pounds heavier than the SE. Once again, nothing drastic, but definitely less weight is welcomed.

Should be the same, If I remember correctly your 6 gear and our 5 gear are the same on the IX.
