SE vs. MR
i love my SE...wouldnt think twice about buying it again...ull love it...if they do have a WW MR i would def think about that tho...its really rare and looks soooo beautiful...ether way your gonna get one hell of a car soo jus go buy it before sumbody else does!
Thanks for the input guys. They're both new, and silver, which is not my favorite, but the only white one is at a dealer who wants an additional $6k for it. I'm buying the car for track days. I own a Kawi dealer and have road raced m-cycles for a long time. I took a year off and raced a 911 GT2 (I wish, but not owned by me) 8-9 years ago, and have got the itch lately to go flog 4-wheels at the track again. I'm getting older, and all the injuries I've accumulated racing bikes are starting to catch up with me. I'm looking to get my ya-ya's in an enviornment where I don't need to contort my forty-year-old *** into positions it no longer wants to get into.
The Evo seems to be a really good package right out of the box. I figure sorting the suspension, and maybe getting a few more ponies out of it, might make a for a really good time.

Yeah, I'll swap the suspension anyway, and if I invest in the car the $4k I'll be saving, I'll have the thing that much better. One poster on here mentioned the RS, and I wrote back that the only one I've seen is a 2004, and the freaking dealer wants $27K for it. One thing that intrigues me is the lack of ABS on the RS. DOn't get me wrong, I'm not gonna spend $27k on an '04, but why did Mitsu leave out the ABS on a car that seemingly would be track-ed. The last time I raced was like '98 or '99, and the car I drove didn't have ABS, but it had brake bias, so you could adjust out brake slide. I don't remember ever locking up the GT2 car, but I did on my own 3.2 911. I had a brake control valve on it, but all it did was pinch off pressure from the front or back, so I could even it out.
Anyway, ABS (on cars anyway) seems to offer shorter stopping distances, and also seems to offer you better control under braking. If this is the case (is it?), why wouldn't Mitsu put ABS on the RS? I instructed a couple of times in the student's car, some with ABS, but being stock street cars, they handled like crap, and I couldn't push'em like the race cars, therefore I never have seriously pushed a car with ABS.
Anybody know the deal-i-o?

If you are planning on taking your car to road tracks then I would recommend reading this: https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/sh...d.php?t=210221
The short version is that 4th gear on the 6-speed is susceptible breakage on the track. If you are really getting this car to scratch a track-day itch, get the SE. If nothing else, it will give you some piece of mind.

Im guessing the white MR is at Norco where they are trying to jack people and have been on those WW MR's for 6 months. They told my friend he had to finace the Evo through them for at least 3 months or they wouldnt sell it to him he was preapproved at OCTFU at a lower rate.NORCO

Your friend's scenario is illegal (so's the bait and switch they pulled on me), and was done so they can bump up the interest and get a kick-back from the bank. The 3-month minimum finance thing, was probably because the bank stipulates that if the customer pays the loan off in those three months, the bank charges back the dealer for the kick back.
I purchased the MR over the SE mainly for the ride. It was a considerable difference with the MR. Really smooth compared to the jolt of the SE.
6th gear is nice when I commute in it.
Congrats on the purchase!
