Nobody has mentioned road course use, at a track day any evo out there will run circles around just about any rear drive car including most Porches.

I sold my 2000 SS Hardtop full bolt ons and nitrous for an Evo.There are somethings i miss but the evo i really fun to drive kinda go-cartish and i needed a car that i didnt mind putting miles on so much i was way to **** about the camaro.like me you will notice the lowend is gone but with a few boltons and a tune you can make it pretty nice around town.

Heres a few pics before i sold her:

The single most interesting thing about the Evo is it performs exceptionally well in nearly all areas somewhat deceiving sometimes when you first get into the car.

Likely areas the car will excite you:

- Out of the corner grip and acceleration
- Low grip situations no longer that much of an issue
- A very confident feel to the driving experience feels like your connected to the road
- Ridiculous cornering and stopping power

Area's likely to disappoint:

- Off boost grunt
- The sound of a I-4 (some people love it some don't)

I know I've seen a few evo guys on camaro boards so some of you must have
experience. I dont want opinions only from camaro drivers I'm more interested
in the switch from v8,rwd,etc. so all sides are wanted. Seeing how its almost a
complete opposite setup, I'm worried about 3 months down the road I will be
disappointed. Some of you are going to say, Drive one then decide, things don't
grow on me quickly and I really don't want to spend the money on something I'll
regret. Right now I really just miss the sound of my turbo so I'm trying to get back
into that. Also I'm looking for a car with alot more handling and just funner to drive
in the country and around town.

I'm also worried about the 20-80 40-100 area acceleration

Stick with the Chevy.

I came from a camaro too. A big advantage for me was 4 doors. I was trying to find the fastest/most fun 4 door available. It is a lot more of a functional vehicle. Not sure if you have kids or not, but it holds my 3 yr old's car seat nicely.

And you're in Indiana... wait until it snows and you take the evo out for a spin. You won't miss the camaro at all! Just get some all-seasons because the stock rubbers are horrible in the snow.

Pretty much what sold me, didn't really care much if it had 4 doors or not (no kids and all my buddies probably couldn't fit in the back, maybe a blonde or two? ) and the snow was a big factor, I could only drive the car April-October and I was looking for more of a car I could drive all the time without worrying.

The Evo isnt as fast or as nice inside as the gto, but i dont really care about having leather interior, and even though the Evo interior is like a rental car , besides the seats and steering wheel, I love it anyway!!

I also love having traction all the time!!! and it is way more fun to drive on a daily basis.. it stops 100X better than the gto to, etc..

I do miss the low end grunt of the gto sometimes and rwd, but I am very happy with my evo, and plan to keep it for a long time. I have all the basic bolt ons for it sitting in my room ready to be installed. Im sure I will like it even more after i get tuned!!
I had a stock 2005 gto and I agree with the above post. The v8 rwd is a blast due to all the low end torque you get out of it, but the evo is much funner to drive.

Drive an evo and see for yourself.
