who plays in the snow? I have a question

So Im a potential EVO IX buyer, but we have bad snows here in Ohio in the winter and I really really love playing out in the snow in my FWD car, and I imagine an AWD car will only make it worse. But given how the EVO clutch is a little on the fragile side to say the least, is it relatively safe to do some driftin and such in the snow? Since the tires aren't really getting any traction I would think it'd be pretty worry free. I just dont want to have to replace the clutch so soon from snow fun. Does anyone do this often/regularly/at all?

make sure you get some good snow tires on it if you plan on messing around. The stock advans are no good below 40 degrees

I've messed with mine in the snow a bit. Exedy twin disk, and bridgestone blizzaks on the stock rims.

Between that and my APR front splitter, I could almost plow streets on my own!

Evo + Snow = FUN!

cant wait for the first snowfall. ill be out messing around a little. i am still on the stock clutch at 85,000 miles modded. so don't worry about the clutch as long as u know how to drive. worry about tires and obstacles instead.

Im liking, but keep going. That's the only thing holding me back from the EVO is that I want to have fun in the car, whether it be snow, or mud(no asphalt drifting or **** like that though), but I dont want to have to worry everytime Im in it, "oh cant do this, might have to replace the clutch again" mentality.

like i said. dont worry about it. i track my car all the time and autox too. i dont baby it that much. i drive her like she likes it. i definatly have allot of fun. as long as u know how to drive u will be fine. drifting on pavement and the like doesn't really mess with the clutch. its harder on your TC. launching is what kills clutches.

does anyone know if the "drifting" we all do in snow or rain is bad on the driveline??? I have an 03 and i love to do it... lol. Just not sure if its bad. I know there is little friction in both rain and snow, hence the ability to drift, but does that mess things up? The 03 doesnt have the Active Center Diff... sooooo, want to help out with some answers??? PLease!!

fragile clutch?? 60k on my stock clutch, countless launches, 05 Evo BPU and some. If its snowing im outta work on the road. 2 winters with some nice storms, played all night till the sun came up ( as the roads arent plowed yet), enough said.

took my evo when ifirst got it in a big snow storm, but i had no idea that the advans were so crappy in the snow, and i crashed into a construction lift and needed 3500$ in damage to the right front. lesson learned, dont even think about driving in the snow with advans on.
