There is nothing to think about here and no logic to be found.......

I coach 15 year old kids........They are little kids.

Maturity is the last thing to expect from a 15 year old.........

I don't know what to tell you kid. I got an evo when I was 16 and now I am 18. I have had no tickets and no accidents. But just by the way you are talking it seems like you are very immature. Your not going to make 70k/year as a stock broker and that just makes you look like an idiot for saying it. I made a list of mods when I was going to get with all their prices....when i was 12 and first saw the fast and the furious.

I'm not one to flame on other people, but you give young drivers like me a bad name. Just get a nice BMW.

Dream: Getting the dream car with the dream mod list. I'm so cool and talented that all these top companies are lining up to hire me as a stock broker paying me at least $70k a year. Oh well, if I somehow don't get hired due to unforseen circumstances , at least I have my parents that'll pay for what I want. I will be having an internship at ABC investment bank this summer

Truth: Ends up working part time at a gas station in a ghetto neighborhood for the summer dealing with people trying to get free lighters and cigarettes. Of course commuting in the '91 camry he just bought.

Wow... this thread is a joke.... and this is EXACTLY why my insurance keeps going up ) :

70k a year at 15??? hahaha that is an ABSOLUTE JOKE!!! and the program is only 4 months long?? Give me a break..... Next thing you are going to be saying is that you are going to be the next Bill Gates or something insane....

All I can do is sit here... and laugh! and that's awesome that you know how to copy and paste on a computer from lancershop.com... HAHAHA.

Look.. If you are going to get an EVO for your first car.. then taking some driving courses .. and drive it stock for a LONG while..

other than that...

This is a response to your other thread "New Toy!" that's been locked.

Do NOT allow your parents to buy you an evo, or you, someone, or maybe both will DIE! Please listen to what everyone is telling you with their experiences when they were 15. I'm pretty sure you think you're slick for convincing your parents to buy you an evo because you think it's amazingggg, but it's a huge mistake!!! Not that people here don't want you to buy an evo, but because it takes years of experience and discipline to own this car. Buying this car is equivalent to buying your first bike. You will get hurt or get killed. The worst part is you will most likely kill or hurt others.
I started driving when I was your age and got my first car after high school, which was a beat up 1984 Nissan Maxima. I could've sworn I was the best driver in the world and everyone else was the worst driver. I drove like Ms. Daisy with my dad, but when I was just with my friends I drove like I thought I was speed racer weaving through traffic. I crashed that maxima doing a 540 on the freeway during rush hour. Thank God I didn't hit anyone and came out without a scratch. I then saved up some money and got a mini cooper s. Wasn't long until I flipped my car twice and landed upside down. Again, it was a miracle that no one was hurt or in the car with me and only came out with a scratch on my arm having to crawl out through my back window.
At your age, no matter how much you convince others of how you think of the consequences, you're still going to make those mistakes. Why, because those consequences are from someone else's experience, not yours. So it doesn't effect you in any way. If you're still convinced that you want an evo, just drive drunk because you will have the same outcome. Sorry, but that's the truth! At least if you're drunk, we can call the cops and have you arrested.
On the side note, I am now turning 24 and learned many hard lessons. I'm so grateful that my beginner car was NOT an evo, or I would've ended up dead or in jail. I now own an evo and never again do I push my driving abilities on the streets. This car is not for beginners! It is a very powerful machine and should only be for those who can control their right foot and don't have to prove what your car can do against the one next to you. I hope you make a wise decision and reconsider because it can effect other people's lives too.

Sorry for the long write up, but if it can save the life of our moms, dads, wives, husbands, daughters, sons, best friends, then I believe we should all contribute.

ps. here's a thread of what happened to some teenagers getting their hands on these cars.

Well said obsessionByEvo9. it is true. DO NOT buy an EVO for your FIRST car. Evo's are not for beginner drivers. My first car was a 94 Integra GSR, and yes i was like obsession but fortunately i did not get into an accident. *knocks on wood*

I too would drive like a speed racer in front of my friends when i was in High School (2 years ago) believe it or not but i learned alot within that 2 years about safe driving. My cousins who were involved in huge accidents told me to just drive say, don't be pressured by peers to drive fast (guessing your friends will pressure you to show off and speed). so my point is, If you get an evo, your friends get in, they will pressure you to race or just speed in front of your high school and say its "COOL"..

whats "cool" no-a-days?

p.s. i'll be purchasing an Evo in a couple months. (i'm 19, going to be 20)

70k+ at that age? Must be inflation. I don't think most younger people have EVO/STi/sports cars as first cars will get into a major accident, unless they live near some mountains. My honest opinion is that they'll get bored of the car in short order and get the next hot car when it comes out after putting a couple cheap $100-200 mods on the car, for the sake of "modding" it.

You can never really tell who's truly responsible and deserving of a nice car or not. I see people who're 20 getting $50,000 M3s as a first car, who have the extraordinary ability to ignore their friends' goading for them to floor it everywhere, while some people ten years older don't have the same kind of maturity.
