If you really want "to retain as much reliability as possible", you could do without the mbc IMO. A good tune will up your boost just a tad and hold it to red line, and you'll never over boost. Nothing wrong with an mbc though for max power.

There are many good tuners all around, just make sure you research someone's experience's and don't just take the tuners word.

deadpirate: I am not sure if that will void your warranty, but mitsubishi likes to blacklist cars for seeing them at track events (and I think we have all seen Mitsubishi and Subaru reps at track days taking down vin numbers), and i have known cars to be out of warranty because of an intake. Warranties are great if they will cover you, so it depends on if you want it or not.

The tune is very important, I am having trouble trying to choose a vendor and I don't beleive that there is any tuners in my genral are. There is AMS up n Chicago, but that's a 3-4 hour drive depending on traffic. I thought that the mail flash from the Dynoflash was good, but then I hear some bad things. I look other vendors and get the samme kinda news. Most seem to have good luck with a few people that have drivability issues.

Would a MR BOV be of any good benefit other than preventing the boost taper? I thought the stock system was pretty good to begin with from what I've read.

Oh yeah, not that it prevents taper (that's ecu controlled or your mbc would squash it), but it’s stronger and if you turn up your boost, it will hold it a lot better than the plastic one. It would definitely be a great thing to add to your top 6 like Ultimate CC said. Not sexy, but solid.
