New To evo Suspension HelP

Hello all,

I just picked up an 06 lancer evolution with coil overs on it.
When i took the car to the shop for an inspection and got the
car on a lift i noticed massive uneven tire wear. That figures why
the car did not drive straight, the alignment was way off. I talked to the previous owner (who I was stupid enough to buy the car from as is without a test drive) and he said that since the coil overs are adjustable,
they are prone to losing alignment and need to be tightened?. Do i need to get my car aligned every six months to maintain alignment, or every time i go over a big bump? There is also a serious
clunk sound coming from my engine bay when i do U-turn at slow speeds. Any feedback would be appreciated.

its the stuff that they use to make bolts stay in place. It comes in a goo that you apply to the threads.

Use Blue not Red Locktite or you'll be cussing another prob when you do need to loosen the nut/bolts...

Do NOT put locktite on the suspension bolts. You'll never get them off.

If you torque all the bolts to the proper Mitsu specs, they'll be fine.

Anyhow, having your alignment checked once every 3-4 months is a good idea on any car. Most places will check it for free. If it's still in alignment, then you're good. If not, get it aligned.

For the clunking sound, that could be a bunch of things. I would start with tightening all the bolts on the front coilovers. Torque them to Mitsu's specs. See if that works. If not, I'm not sure what else to tell you other than take it into a suspension shop you trust.

My best guess about the clunking noise is the spring rotating on the perch. If thats what it is, its not a major problem...just kind of annoying. What kind of coilovers are they?

Hitting big bumps in almost any car will throw the alignment off, especially if you have stiff suspension and lower profile tires. On top of that, the quick steering will exagerate how off the alignment is.Its a good idea to get the alignment checked often if you are worried about tire wear. Even if the car drives straight, the alignment can still be quite a bit off (ie. toe in opposite directions).
