test drove an evo today...

umm the boost gauge hit 1.5 bar...
uhhh that's not right... right???!!

the car did have a MBC- how much can it safely take?

I don't know Bar very well, but in PSI terms, on 93 you can run safely up to 24 psi with the proper tune. If the the only thing the car had done to it was a mbc, then I wouldn't want to see anything above 21 psi. I think 1.5 bar equals about 21 psi or so.

FYI stock was 20.3 most of us run something around 22 on 93 oct. Safely is subjective to the tuning.

soo different from the honda world...
18 psi sounds like insane boost in my world (even though I do run it)

and you evo guys should never complain about lag

lol, hey igo4bmx, I dunno if you remember me but i think i bought some stuff from you on turbod16.com a long time ago. I'm looking into evo's too once i get some money and get rid of the civic.

im keeping the civic and putting it back to stock- the insurance is cheaper with two cars!

A stock IX runs 20psi of boost.

A IX properly tuned can run ~25psi on 93 octane with 3-4* of timing at peak torque and be relable. Most people tune 93 octane to about 23 psi on a IX, although some tuners prefer to tune more timing and less boost (21-22ish). Of course the stock IX turbo will run out of ***** and taper to 17-18 or so at redline.

DB had a thread where he tuned a IX to 30psi on pump or something and it's daily driven.
