how- miss a gear?
maybe this is in the wrong section but... mechanically, how does a tranny miss a gear. Im thinking its based on the synchros. When you try to engage the gear, they synchros cant align as quick as you try to jam them in so it doesnt go.
Am i correct, with this theory?

You take the most likely scenario, they screw up wins hands down nearly always.
when you "miss a gear" that just means driver error; i.e. the driver did not shift the lever into the desired gear slot in the time the clutch was disengaged before naturally releasing the clutch and preparing to continue accelerating. gear lockout is the clutch not fully disengaging and the synchros not allowing a higher gear to be selected.

I agree ... driver error. In a racing situation, it's usually that the feet and the hands aren't perfectly synced and the clutch is released before the hands have completed the shift.
So while the majority of missing a gear is the result of driver error.. there are some instances where the syncros are simply worn out and the clutch isn't designed for it thus increasing the likelihood that the car won't get into gear.

how does the clutch affect it. no matter what clutch you have shouldnt it disengage the same way (disconnecting from the flywheel) and the gears should have no strain or anything.
O i meant when you are fully disengaging the clutch, how doesnt it shift the same?

First: You haven't driven a car hard enough if you have never missed a gear!
Second: How do you not know how to miss a gear?
Its as simple as not timing the clutch/gas/shift correctly.
It higher HP cars it becomes easier to miss gears for many different reasons.
