Evo=Daily Driver
Thanks for all the help everyone,im excited to start shopping foe one.Im currently restoring a Tacoma for my kid who's gonna start driving soon,once thats roadworthy I'M gonna say bye to my beloved truck and get a evo.
i dd my now and i'm selling my Toyota pickup as well
cant fit the kids in a single cab pickup
my evo has a 1" drop and full exhaust without cat and i love driving it. although i am saving for a hi flow cat and retune for DDing. although i wish i still had my corolla for the DD duty it would save a ton of miles on the EVO.

i dd mine all over the ****ty michigan roads. i've got a tbe with no cat and an intake and i've got some more things planned for spring planning on realistically about 300whp. some of the little noises and bumps get a little old over time but i'd say it's worth it. i'm at 35k on mine. all of the regular maintenance including fluid changes and spark plugs and such are cake on these cars. actually just about everything is easier to work on on an evo than subaru. and if you dont feel like doing a clutch any time soon then dont be launching it and they're great.
I think the reliability part is more important,im sure it rides a little nicer than a Toyota 4x4 which i've been using on and off since 97.I can drive my wife's Lexus if I need a break from the Evo I guess.

i use my evo for a DD. i have all the mods u want. 300WHP. i have the mr so i rides a little nicer then the others. i have had the car for 1.5 yrs and now have almost 90,000 miles on it. i love it. i use it for everything. my newborn baby loves it. goes right to sleep once u start it. i have never heard a peep from her while in the evo.
my wife drives it everyday as well. she is a home health nurse so she puts 100 miles a day on it, and is in it all day. and she wouldn't trade it for anything.
its my family car. i drive a beater to work which is 3 miles away.

My friend DDs his IX MR, takes it on long trips, etc. Doesn't have any issues with it.
It doesn't ride very rough in my opinion. Non-MRs don't ride much rougher. They're no louder inside than say, a non-STI WRX. The DD-ability of the EVO isn't really a major issue unless you have back problems, extraordinarily rough roads, or your spouse doesn't like to feel the occasional bump.

If you don't mind not having cruise control in your daily driver, then the Evo should be fine. The ride is a little stiff, but nothing unbearable. Also, you'll have to get used to making a lot more three-point turns since the lock-to-lock sucks.
i have an '03 for weekends, i had an '05 as a DD. it was fine until i needed room for another child. when i'm in PHX, i push a Rover. In Miami, i push a Benz S550. what makes or breaks a DD is it's intended use. if u really want an EVO for a DD, go for either an MR or a SSL equipped model & u won't b disappointed.
more expensive car = more expensive repairs/maint unless u buy a luxury car. example: the rover has complimentary (free!!!) maintenance for the life of the warranty of 4yrs/50k miles.
BMW even covers tires & brakes!!!
