Went from '02 wrx to '06 sti to '06 MR

Pros

Sti - strong tranny, gearbox, clutch, gauges, DD comfort, EJ sound, low end torque

Evo - strong engine, awesome handling, Recaros, better Momo, appearance, mods

Cons

Sti - stock seats for fat people, lots of $ to go rotated and fmic, feels heavy

Evo - clutch and tranny not as solid as sti, factory audio unit sucks, small gas tank

Either way you will not be disappointed. But take my advice and ****** an '06 evo if you can. '07 stis have throttle "issues" and '08 are a hatch

This list could go on and on but bottom line is both the evo IX and 06 sti are pretty incredible for $35K.

theres gonna be pros and cons on both cars it just depends on your taste and driving style??

me personally why i chose the EVO (i have driven both)

1)too many people in town has one (sti) (gotta be different from the crowd)

2)evo response well to mods

3)less time consuming to change out plugs than the sti (my freind has one and it's a pain to get to the plugs)

all in all i can name some of the bad things about the evo too but wont go there don't wanna write a story.....like i said pros and cons about each other

it's up to you in the end it's gonna be your car and your the one paying the bills on it, you gotta like it and nobody else but you..good luck with your choice both cars are great cars...i'm glad we finally get a chance to own one of these...

My .02 cents though

I'm in the same postion as you bro. I have about 25k max to spend on a car. Nothing can compare to an evo or a sti. both amazing cars. I was thinking about getting a SR-T but it cant comapre. So im gonna be debating untill i test drive both.

Dude you should Get a IX (all black and better than VIII interior).... coming from a Subie myself (higher quality interior)....

The IX out accelerates a STi anyday of the week. Plus just a $1500 in mods on a IX nets close to 330 WHP. An VIII would take close to $2700 to get to 330 WHP.

And do get a 5 SPD if you plan on making 400 to 500 WHP on it.

As far as HID's go you can always put after market ones in for less than 300

3 reasons
-I drove both, in turns the STI was strong, but the Evo was telepathic
-Stealth no hood scope just take the wing off and disappear
-I could actually ride in the backseat if needed, has not happened yet
