06 350Z or 06 Evo IX MR
Haha, probably you get the ****ed Z, that's why you said it's handling is terrible.
Can't really compare Z and evo, basicly the turbo makes the difference.
I would stick to evo, can bring family and friends around. Super sexy car(check out the show and shine threads, got to love the evo+mods specially mods for look), easy to mod from performance to look and the handling is very good for 4door sedan(evo mr fq400 beat lambo @topgear =p).
Get used '02~'06 350z, with low millege for weekend car? or once a while switch evo and 350z for weekend car, depends of how you want to do with them.
I say that because there are many cheap 350z out there. I am from WA and found so many 350z just by looking at the craigslist.
Think carefully before you buy, it's your money, your sweat, your baby, your fun, not us.
=)

Evo all day long over a 350z. If your not planning on going crazy with your car the 6 speed is strong enough for most 300-400whp street cars, auto x etc. For drag racing or any all out high whp car the 5 speed is preferred. The MR costs too much but it does have an upgraded suspension as well as the 6 speed and the aluminum roof, BBS etc. The SE is a great package - It gives the GSR an aluminum roof, BBS wheels, and HID's. It's basically a 5 speed MR.
Man I was in the exact same situation you are in a few months ago. I also had a lightly modded 06 350Z with Injen exhaust. The car was just too small for me and I needed something with a real trunk. I had always liked Evos and STIs but when it came down to trading the Z and geting one or the other, once I test drove the Evo that was the end of it.
Get an Evo preferably an SE, IMO its the best compromise between all the Evo trim lines.
Good luck on your search.

Heh, I'll post pictures of both after my Chevelle is back in one piece again. I chucked the automatic in it for a 4-speed super T-10, since the engine was eating it alive. Then again most automatics probably don't like being powershifted at 7,500 RPM
Go to this website. http://www.flordracing.com and go to customer cars and mine is the black Chevelle in the top row. Play the clips at the bottom of the page and you can hear the beast.

My friend owns a Nissan dealership and I have never heard of that. They are just slow in general. People get them expecting to be fast with 300hp. I have an 06 BTW. Stock for stock the Z couldn't hang with the evo. Now with my bolt ons the Z just seems like an even worse decision. That's why I am glad I gave it to my dad.
I honestly think 350Z is a badly designed 'sports' car, which happens to be selling well at the same time. First of all, the platform and engine is shared throughout the Nissan/Infiniti line, that includes trucks and SUV, luxury sedan, front wheel drive family sedan and even minivans in Japan. Imagine Chevy deciding to share platform and engine for Malibu and Corvette to cut cost and make Corvette more affordable to people. It is kind of like that for Altima/Maxima and 350Z.
Then there is classification. Statistically, it is a sports car. 2 seats, rear wheel drive, peppy engine 6 speed gear box, tight suspension. But why does it feel and drives like a GT car? Isn't that what G35/G37 is for? The car is heavy no doubt @ 3350lbs, but the car slides out and understeers like a 4000lbs car during turns. Also the power dies off way before the redline, kind of like STi, which makes it not so fun.
As a daily driver, it again is terrible. No rear seats, thick bar making the trunk useless for big items, tight interior, very harsh suspension (which unfortunately doesn't seem to make the car handle well). Sloping and curvy dash makes it look kinda sporty but the plastic is really really cheap, even cheaper feel than most EVO interior parts. The seats are ok. The sound system sucks for a high wattage.
The Z is no longer a Z, all the elements that made a 240Z a kickass sports car is lost. I can't wait for the new Silvia (S16 perhaps?) that might come out in couple years.

lol, what a lil fan boy.
I love my evo, but my friend just got his G37 AUTO with paddle shifters...car is stock and beats on STis and EVOs (near stock of course)...best race was an EVOVIII with tbe, intake that put a rear bumper on my friend till 90-100 till it got yanked at high speeds. This was from a 40mph roll...he did get killed from a dig though.
The G37 might be fat, but it has a lot of power. I **** you not. Same with the 07 350z with the new engine.
lol
350z > Evo.
Mainly so you don't become the speedy taxi.
The 350z is more reliable than the Evo too, and also has better customer service than
. Looks-wise, the 350 is more
and the Evo is
. Only reason I would choose a Evo over a 350z would be if I really needed the car space, and wanted to have almost the same amount of power.
As for the guy that said that he beat a 350z TT by a car and a half with his stock turbo: that 350z driver must have been a horrible racer.
I'm not doubting the Evo cuz I LOVE it, but a 350z TT being beat by an Evo... eh... I'd have to see it to believe it. Those ****ers are fast.

Is this the reason why you bought a Lancer instead of a real evolution???
Also with just a TBE $(500) used a MBC ($50). And a Decent tune $200 to $350.
An EVO IX will put down somewhere close to 360HP crank.... Destroying any Z or G37 with Bolt on's wether its from a roll or a Digg.
Throw some Blizzack Winter Tires out there and you will be able to hang with any 4X4 suv on the road. (come Snow)
Also how many Z owners do you see driving their cars when its snowing out side?
The EVO is a much more practical Car by all means

Obviously acceleration from a roll is another way out of many to measure a car's performance, but it's just not a legitimate standard to use when determining how good a car is. It's just one situation that people use for different types of car to put one car more in favor than the other (in this case, RWD over AWD since both cars are already in motion), just like all of the Evo fanboys who will whine about the Evo getting beat by [insert faster RWD car here] but how it turns around in the dirt. Yes, it's true, but a BS comparison.
