evo

Get the evo, it's faster and you can drive it year round. Try that with a Z.

But that's the thing... the thread starter himself is from Orange County. In Southern California, most of us have to deal with a couple weeks' worth of rain at the very most/worst (unless you live in the mountains) throughout the course of the year, so that wouldn't be a huge factor for the thread starter to consider.

Though that doesn't change other things... like the Evo naturally performing better in nearly every performance category while having seating for five. Plus oil changes (assuming you would use synthetic in a Z) would be cheaper in an Evo since the Z's bigger motor has a greater oil capacity... the Evo just keeps giving and giving.

Obviously acceleration from a roll is another way out of many to measure a car's performance, but it's just not a legitimate standard to use when determining how good a car is. It's just one situation that people use for different types of car to put one car more in favor than the other (in this case, RWD over AWD since both cars are already in motion), just like all of the Evo fanboys who will whine about the Evo getting beat by [insert faster RWD car here] but how it turns around in the dirt. Yes, it's true, but a BS comparison.
True, but as you said, you arent reading it well. I didnt mean to be better, just faster in a straightline. He had an 06 sti which he blew the motor off before buying the G37. He put the sti back to stock and managed to pass it under warranty and finally got it back today. I says that Gs handling will never compare to the Sti's. He says that even thought it might be a tad faster in the straightline, that the sti feels faster and is more fun. I drove his car and its nice...the interior and the engine sound is the only good thing.

anyways, i was just pointing out that it is fast since someone said it wasnt. thats all.

I love my evo, but my friend just got his G37 AUTO with paddle shifters...car is stock and beats on STis and EVOs (near stock of course)...best race was an EVOVIII with tbe, intake that put a rear bumper on my friend till 90-100 till it got yanked at high speeds. This was from a 40mph roll...he did get killed from a dig though.

The G37 might be fat, but it has a lot of power. I **** you not. Same with the 07 350z with the new engine.
Haha, what I meant was G37 is slower when you run side by side with evo with mph below 60s.

Yeah, cars like G37 would beat stock evos on top speed. My apologies for any mistakes.

Still vote for evo, unless this guy is getting a 350z nismo.

350Z got potential as well.. i had a 06 Z and let me tell you.. if i had the pockets I still have it today..!

The Evo is nice but consider your finances b4 making a move.. the 07 Z's drop low 13's stock.. able to spank stock 8's on the 1/4 and stock IX's on the top end.. so dont be surprised folds..

Most recent 350Zs I've checked out were typically running 13.7s or so.

they run 13.7s but trap low 13s because people dumped the spare tires, tools, play with the tire psi's and put race gas...and no, im not being a smartass, they really do lol. The 07 Zs running is like the IXs running high 12s stock...possible but its more of a fixed/lucky run than average.

To SunKren, I wouldnt count on it lol my friend has ran an [almost] stock 06/07 STi that had tbe or catback and drop in air filter from every roll possible, the only time the sti had an advantage was from 40mph till like 55-60mph when he caught up and passed him. The rest were 20mph, 50mph/60mph and a 80mph roll. All of them were won by the G37 straight up...especially they 20mph and the 80mph...they are good at 20mph roll ons.

He lost the dig as usual hehe. Car is definately faster than the competition, the 335i, and the IS350/350Z. The -06 Zs are equally fast than the IS350 might I add hehe.

He likes the car, but regrets having gotten it, he says he shouldve kept the AWD, but now he got his other car back so now he has both. He doesnt like the RWD that much.

I know you're not being a smartass, don't worry about that. I suppose that by getting rid of as much excess weight as possible without stripping car and messing with tire pressure/race gas (though I am assuming without retuning), you could knock off a couple tenths, but high 12s seems a little unbelievable. I'm not saying it's impossible, I've just never heard of such a thing in those cars. But if you have links to other forums where they discuss achieving such quarter-mile times in stock 350Zs, I'd be more than happy to check them out.

^ GT-R, not Skyline GT-R.

But I'm gonna go out on a limb and assume that this guy doesn't want to spend $70k (plus whatever outrageous markups the cars will have) on a new whip when he is considering a pre-owned '06 Evo IX MR.

yeah, he has the 350z already, but I meant the analogy of the idea/suggestion people are giving.

buying a new GT-R over the used Evo this guy is looking for is like...

buying a new Z06 over the used 350z this guy has and someone else would look for.

whatever, doesnt really matter. nevermind lol
