Evo vs z06

How hard is it to get an IX into z06 territory? Dad just bought an 07 Z06, drove it and Omg. It was perfect. I mighg be grabbing an IX tomorrow and want to know how to get into that range.

They are different beasts. Good at different things. Straight line or autox or road course? A couple grand and you can hang to 100. After that you need alot more hp. Do your homework before you buy.

Not really straight line. More like road course. But is keeping up after 100 even realistic?

A C6 Z06 is an animal of a car. Your car is going to need a built motor/big turbo set up at the minimum. I would guesstimate anywhere from 450AWHP-600AWHP is needed to pull on his car. 450AWHP to get him in the 1/4 mile thanks to launch control and AWD. 550-600+ for highway pulls. The C6 Z06 is no joke.

Trust me, I know. I have an 08 gsxr 1000 and driving the z06 was a ****in blast. How do Evos do in the top end? After 100? I hear a lot of supra guys dog it's top end ability.

2013 ZR1 with 642rwhp with mods vs my customers 2.4L with an fp black @ 31psi (vd'ed 620ish). he pulled away like the ZR1 had nothing (3 cars atleast). guy was very upset in the ZR1 lol.

hp for hp the evo will do more with less power due to AWD and not having traction issues.

you wont be disappointed with an evo purchase, but its not gonna come close to beating your dads z06 until you modify it a good bit.

By all means I dont want a pony car. I just wanna know it can hang, and howit would do on a road course when handling comes into play.

Evo is alot better Platform because of the AWD + Build Motor + Big Turbo . Where the Zo6 will just do a burn out show Unless you are running drag tires which you have to heat them up ofcourse.

I'll see about posting some Watkins Glen vid of me and a well driven C6 Z06.

We are fairly even till the straight and right at 100 he starts pulling away at a pretty good rate. Down into and through the boot I can catch him and am all over his bumper. We are pretty good till the front straight and again he starts to leave me at right around 100. Catch him through the esses and say goodbye down the straight.

When we ran the short course same as the NASCAR course. I have absolutely nothing for him. There are 3 really good WFO opportunities and the EVO is a brick aero wise.

I just like the fact I can hang with them and sometimes pass in places where you really have to drive the car.

Z06 is a hell of a track car, right out of the box. Not just about the power, it's well balanced and, with good tires, is VERY difficult to catch. Watkins is a great track for the Z06, as they grip like hell and their low end torque helps get up to speed on the numerous straights quickly. I admire and hate them.

Tacoma nailed it. You only need around 440whp to embarrass him from a stoplight to stoplight and 1/8 mi. 1/4 mile he will be hunting you down near the end, and high sped runs forget it, he's gone. With a mega hp evo the z06 is toast
